Interesting problem, unclear business model – how would you monetize this?

A friend and I are ETH Zurich students testing an idea.

The concept is simple: prospective students can book a 30-minute call with a current student from a specific degree (CS, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Architecture, etc.) and ask questions about the program, workload, student life, career prospects, and what to expect.

We've received feedback suggesting that many people would find this useful. However, a common response is that similar conversations already happen through LinkedIn, friends, alumni, and networking.

I agree that friends and personal contacts are naturally the first people most students would reach out to.

On the other hand, not everyone has access to the right network. The value we see is making these conversations easier to access, matching students with the right person, and ensuring a certain level of quality and responsiveness rather than relying on random outreach.

The challenge seems to be monetization rather than demand.

How would you monetize something like this? Would you charge students directly, partner with universities, offer subscriptions, or pursue a completely different approach?

Curious to hear your thoughts.

Would you have used this before applying to ETH?

Hi everyone,

A friend and I are testing an idea.

The concept: prospective students can book a 30-minute call with a current ETH student from a specific degree (CS, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Math, HEST, Architecture, etc.) and ask anything about the program and student life.

Would you have used something like this before applying to ETH? Why or why not?

Any feedback is appreciated.
