Loving my Sunbeam, but I missed my notes app - so I built one that works over SMS
I finally made the switch to a Sunbeam Bluebird in June after years of lurking on r/dumbphones . This post from Veronica Explains is what finally pushed me over the edge: https://veronicaexplains.net/dumbphone-summer-2026/
After a few months, I'm super happy with the transition. I have a young child and used to have a lot of trouble staying present during play time - getting rid of my smart phone has made a huge difference.
One thing that I missed was my notes app. I used use Apple Notes all the time to jot down things that were on my mind. I tried using the native Sunbeam notes app, but missed being able to read from my computer.
So I built a minimalist, dumbphone-friendly notes app. You can submit notes via SMS (like how OG twitter worked) and review them on your computer later. I've been using it daily for a few months and finding it very useful. This core functionality is free, and there's a paid plan that adds some extra features.
I'd love to hear some feedback from fellow dumphone users. Check it out here: https://tothevo.id/ , and click "try it now" if you want to test out the SMS features before creating an account.
