Hiby Digital x Cyberpunk - Any news?
Anyone heard anymore about the Hiby Digital x Cyberpunk project? Lots of social media posts and then nothing...

I have just realised my R3 Pro ii will work the same way as the W4 (I think).
You can set the Bluetooth Audio Input to be your phone (tested with iPad but it only outputs as AAC not LDAC) and stream Spotify as LDAC to your R3 / IEM / Headphones.
I connect the R3 to my old Marantz amp through line out and stream flac through the Hiby Music App, it will be interesting if I can use line out / BT to stream spotify to it next.
(._.) My first set of IEM and I'm sad, I love them, love the sound, love how they look... but a week in and the right ear is more quiet than the left.
I swear they were fine when I got them and I have babied them, been really careful with them.
I have tried unplugging and swapping sides and I think it's the IEM rather than the cable, I don't have another cable to test with.
I have to adjust the balance in my DAP by 2 stops to centre the sound.
I left the balance adjusted and plugged in my Bose QCii and had to bring it back to centre to balance it up again, so it's definitely the IEM.
Anyone have any ideas, can I get them back or are they toast?

I was lucky enough to gain some Amazon credit for free, so I upgraded my Hiby R1 to a shiny new R3 pro ii and case.
TLDR:
Could I have stuck with the R1 - yes probably.
Will I be looking for another DAP in the near future - not at the moment.
Could it be better - yes.
Do I love it - also yes.
OK so after a day of use....
I was running an R1 so my FLAC library is optimised for it to run quickly, and as with the R1 the album cover load quickly for me, probably slightly quicker than the R1.
The UI is pretty snappy for me too (most of the time, I'll get to that).
The sound is amazing (to my ear). Slightly warmer and definitely clearer than the R1 using the same bose QC2 over ear headphones wired. I have some IEM arriving today (which I didn't use with my R1) so it will be interesting to see how they sound, the Bose have always been plesent to my ear though.
I have used it as a DAC between my Macbook Pro and my Headphones and it lifts the sound there too. It has a great feature where you can tell it not to charge si it doesn't draw charge from the MBP, not quite the FiiO M21 desktop mode, but it's a 1/3 of the cost.
It feels like a grown up R1, just heavy enough, premium with a metal feel, the ultrasuede back is nice but I put an extra Hiby PU leather case on mine which covers it.
I love the small size which I woudn't get with a droid DAP, I have used it for nearly 5 hours today, constantly fiddling and the battery is on 85% which is a great sign.
I ended up putting the modded OS on it ( https://github.com/hiby-modding/hiby-mods) which speeds up the Bluetooth call time and other things, works just fine.
The Bluetooth works fine with my Pixel Buds Pro, slightly more delay in connecting than my phone, but my phone is a flagship pixel 10 tbf.
The BT and OS did get very sluggish when the R3 connected to two bluetooth sources at once though, I didn't know it supported multiple devices. I had two available devices (Buds and a Google Nest) and the R1 actually connected to both at the same time but became very sluggish. When I removed one of the paired devices we were back to normal.
Hope that helps, any questions please ask....
Long story short I have unexpectedly ended up with some Amazon UK credit.
I have a Hiby R1 which I got as a toe dip to see if I could untether from Spotify.
been loving the R1, with a few file tweaks the OS is reasonably snappy for me.
As I haven't had it long I can return it.
I would end up with £211 GBP and could add a little bit if needed.
Options
I like long battery life and portability.
If I can DAC connected to my Macbook Pro thats a bonus.
Mainly using Pixel Buds Pro via BT, Bose QC2 Wired and BT, I have some Tangzu Waner 2 Jade Dragon arriving soon 3.5mm.
Thoughts and options please 😄
I know this is pretty common knowledge but I thought I'd share a little experiment that I did to try and speed up the user interface on my R1.
I went through around 1500 tracks and using MP3tag, removed the album artwork ( exporting it when I needed to ).
I created a cover.jpg of the album artwork and added it to each album folder. With Photoshop I made every jpg 640x640 pixels at 72dpi.
This sounds like a long PIA but when I got the workflow sorted it only took about an hour.
It is definitely a lot more whippy, displaying album art really quickly in album list and more quickly when showing now playing. For me it was worth it 😁

Wondered why you don't see the Tangzu Wan'er sg 2 Jade Dragon edition for sale in the UK?
I was considering the Red Lion Edition but these are supposed to be a bit brighter, less bass led.
I can get the Red Lions for around £22 on UK Amazon at the moment but I can't find any Jade Jade Dragon Edition 👀
Am I missing something?
Are they bad or dated?
New to Foobar2000... I came to it because I'm trying to cut the Spotify ties and rebuild my library as FLAC only...
I started playing with the layout on Mac and this is what I came up with with the limited syntax I could find.
Does anyone know if it's possible to build a mini player?
I guess I could just use a one column layout and create minimal panels, but I wondered if there was a way to have a dialoge box with just the play controls and track info that I could have up with the main dialogue minimized?
or even better a toolbar widget 😄 ?
Long time lurker, first time poster.
Trying not to make this another recommendation post. This will be my first modern DAP after numerous iPod's back in the day (yes I'm old 😅).
I was heading for a Snowsky Echo (not mini) which will cost me around £65 in the UK. They disappear and reappear on Amazon so its hard to snag one, on top of that I have taken a big dive into the rabbit hole.
I'm just rebuilding my library as FLAC and would love to get away from the noise of Spotify ( I end up listening to the same stuff because of the choice I just hit DJ ).
I'm not an audiophile but love music. I need Bluetooth as I use Pixel Buds Pro for my phone and need to swap between devices, I am also in the IEM rabbit hole currently too, so I can see some on the horizon.
Anyhoo... Love the size of the AP80 Pro Max and while the tech head in me would love a Fiio M21 this is a toe dip and the £300+ price tag is a bit strong for that.
The AP80 is £155 including a case on the Hidizs site and £170 player only on Amazon.
TLDR: My question (finally) is:
A: will I get hit with £45 customs/courier charges if I buy it direct shipped to the UK
B: Is this a good choice (I value battery life/size over android benefits).
TIA
