New Broker - Advice Welcome

Hello everyone,

New broker here, just started at a company doing personal lines insurance. I had no prior experience in this industry but an opportunity came and luckily I was able to pass my RIBO exam and was fortunate enough to have pretty extensive training. I just survived my first week ‘live’ on the floor, taking calls and also working with walk-in clients.

Not going to lie, I had a bit of a mental breakdown on my first week lol the amount of information, the different company manuals, especially the new accident benefits reform that just went into place July 1st… my head was spinning! I just felt like after all that time training and so excited to learn a new industry - where I could potentially grow into a fulfilling career, I became extremely overwhelmed.

I did talk with my manager, and they have been great with support.

I guess what I’m asking is this normal? Lol How long until you felt more comfortable with the day-to-day?

Honestly any advice, or just some wisdom would be greatly appreciated. Sorry for the ramble post. I just really want to succeed but I have a bit of a confidence issue and feel like I’m putting a lot of pressure on myself just after a week and a bit with my new role.

Thanks!
