Flangeless Andersen 100 series installation with fiberment siding

Through miss communication we ended up with replacement windows. I signed off but trusted our contractor that he read it, but he was surprised whenever the windows came with no flanges.i didn’t understand what that meant at the time. Not really much we can do now.

The issue we keep running into is every installer that does replacement windows wants to install them like a brick house or insert. Which I think would work but would look really bad with our siding/house. I feel like I’m being picky but it was a lot of money for me. The frame is already 3.5 inches thick another 2-3 inches wouldn’t look good. I want them installed like flanged windows with tape flange. Then with fiber cement trim or the siding running up to it.

I was thinking they could be installed like this: https://youtu.be/e09OP7kw3Po?si=AS5kFvPInmkWQODF

I’ve only talked to two companies about it. Both focused on replacement windows. I would mention tying the windows into the house wrap and both are like what do you mean. So that worried me. Most of the time with replacement windows you don’t worry about house wrap. So I see why they are confused. They also talked about adding j channel.

I’m wanting is no extra frame around the window and it flush once the siding is installed, so the window needs to sit slightly away from the house. Is this possible?

No Flange Andersen 100 series window install

So we got Andersen 100 series windows, and they were supposed to be flanged but they're no flanged. And then I signed off because I didn't know the difference. But our contractor says he wanted flanged, and the windows salespeople said that we didn't want flanged. They came and saw we had all the siding off our house etc. So anyway now we don't have flange and they won't do anything about it.

But now we can't really find out how to install these, and I've been looking everywhere. So they all have slightly different framing. So is the framing supposed to be flush with the OSB/sheathing or should the frame the windows stick out half an inch proud or the size of the trim? Because are you supposed to show the whole frame and pocket it or can it be flush with the trim? Or are you supposed to go over the frame?

We have different types of windows, and it seems like they have different framing. Like some have a small little fin type thing, others are just flat. So I can't figure it out and I'm trying to get help to figure this out and tell them what to do. But the place we ordered the windows is no help and they don't want to talk to us now.

And the contractor he'll do whatever I want. But I can't find any information. Like is the whole frame supposed to show? Is the trim supposed to go over the frame? Because usually you tape it for waterproofing. But how you supposed to tape it? You can't tape the front. I don't know. It seems like these windows weren't made to be no flange because the front looks like it's suppose to be all shown.

Does anyone have any experience with Andersen 100 series no flange windows installation? I'm thinking that you pull it out the width of your trim, tape the sides for water proofing, and then put the trim over it. Because also these are black on the outside, white on the inside, and the edges are white or the outside. So I'm not sure what you're supposed to do. But looking at the flange ones, it looks like the outside is all black or the sides and meant to come out some.
