Is overtime/helping another driver an obligation?
So, yesterday I was dropping my air at the meet point and got a call wanting me to go take stops from somebody. I said no, I had shit to do today. A few minutes later, another call from a different supervisor asking the same thing. I gave the same answer. When I got to the building the building manager asks who did you tell you had things to do today? I looked at him like he was crazy and said nobody. He says, from now on you need to let somebody know before hand. This same day thing doesnt work for me. I said yeah, ok.
But wtf?! Is there specific language in the contract that says we are obligated to work overtime? Cuz for me, this is my job, not my life. UPS is my employer, not my owner. I hurry up and finish to go home, not go help somebody who only goes out with 90 stops and makes it a 12 hour day. Usually I will go help but this irritated tf out of me.
Is there anything in the contract that says you must work overtime?
