Starmix 1625 L vs Metabo ASR 25 M SC
Hello. I want to buy a new shop vac for general garage cleaning and hobby use with power tools like a track saw, sander, etc. I will use it mainly with my cyclone filter - Dust Commander - attached to a metal barrel.
I'm looking for a vac:
- rated as M class, since I have mild asthma
- with a power tool socket (automatic turn-on for convenience)
- not too big, since my space is limited and most debris will already be caught by the cyclone filter
- with the possibility to attach a systainer box on top of it — I love this idea, seems neat
Currently, I own a Kärcher WD-5, which is nice, but misses all of the points above, besides its size, which is ok.
I've searched the internet and it seems Starmix fits my requirements well. It's also sold under different brands like Metabo. I've narrowed down my local offers to these two models: Starmix ISC 1625 L and Metabo ASR 25 M SC.
As far as I can tell:
- The Metabo is a rebrand of a previous Starmix model — the 1425 M.
- Starmix is rated L class, but they have the same filters. Do thety effectively provide the same level of protection?
- Metabo has a preset flow-rate knob, while Starmix has a stepless one. Which one is better?
- Starmix has a light signaling low airflow, while Metabo has light + buzzer. Is the buzzer more convenient or more annoying?
- The Starmix is a bit more powerful (by 200 W), which doesn't seem like a lot to me. Or is it?
- Metabo is a bit more expensive, but comes with an antistatic hose. Price-wise this seems to make them equal. The Starmix 1625 M is notecably more expensive.
Please advice.
