A Theory: Doncaster > London Connection

Andrew’s case has always saddened me, and I’ve always kept my eye out for updates.
I wondered whether there was ever any information on checks made with adult(s) who had access to Andrew, and had ties with South Yorkshire (or the surrounding area) and London? Particularly, an adult who had accommodation in London and a car.
Personally, I’ve never believed he was running away. Yes, he could have been, but there are too many signs pointing to his return from a day trip to London, rather than a more permanent departure.
I understand why the theories that someone could have been communicating with Andrew electronically exist, but struggle to see how they could have done so without leaving any trace, on any device/phone - I say that as someone with similar interests, gaming and forum habits during that period. Yes, it’s possible, but unlikely.
Equally, there’s opportunistic evil individuals who he could have met in London, but to have done so and for there to have not been any further information come to light in the years that follow is unusual.
That leads me to question whether there was someone with access to him. Someone who could meet with him in person over a period before the London trip. Someone who didn’t need to communicate on the telephone or digitally, and could gain Andrew’s trust to the point that Andrew didn’t tell his family - but there was no obvious signs to others that a grooming process was happening.
From that perspective, Andrew not buying a return ticket makes sense as he had a lift home. Similarly, he didn’t need to bring any luggage (spare clothes, toiletries etc), his PSP charger or his mobile phone because he was meeting a trusted adult for a day trip. He just needed his PSP for the journey and some spending cash for his day out.
