31M4A Ryde looking to make some genuine connections

Hi, I’m 31M, Asian, and based around Ryde.

My life is pretty steady. I’ve been (a slave) at the same white-collar job for almost 9 years now and I'm pretty happy to ride it out here. My life might seem pretty boring to some people but I’m pretty content as I get to regularly do the things I enjoy: reading fantasy books, browsing Vinnies, going to the gym, and enjoying sauna/cold-shower sessions.

I have a small circle of friends, but I really appreciate all of them and genuinely enjoy just being around them. We don’t necessarily have to be doing anything exciting — getting a meal, chatting, wandering around afterwards, or playing LOL/TFT together is a real nice time for me. I’ve known most of my friends for many years, and I’d really like to start making some new connections and hopefully build a few friendships that could last for many years.

I'm not the biggest fan of shallow/casual interactions. They can be exhausting. I die a little every time I have to respond “good thanks” to “how are you going?”. I like it when people can talk about themselves and are honest/open/comfortable with themselves. I can go on and on about myself and my thoughts, and I'm always curious about things, especially how others feel/think.

I don’t interact with a huge number of people as my life is pretty mundane but I'm hoping to change this slowly so I can meet some new people. If you think we might get along, please do DM me and we can suss things out :). The more about yourself you can include the better

Repot during winter or wait?

I bought this fella from a nursery recently I think he has a lot of potential!

He looks like he could really do with a new home and I really want to repot him ASAP but it’s the middle of winter here in Sydney AUS so I think I’m just seeking validation that I should wait it out til spring until repotting? There were some weeds growing at the base and the yellowing leaves are giving me a bit of anxiety and I’m really getting strong urges to repot but I feel like it would be too much right now :(

I’ve snipped the weeds off at the base but their roots seemed well entangled with the whole system.

I also wanted to introduce my own soil mix as the sellers weren’t sure about the current mix and think it’s mostly just regular potting mix, but I’m not sure how much soil is left there and it might just be one big mass of roots. Would it be fine to try unentangle the roots and loosen some of the soil out? I’d probably replace up to around 80% if I could. It’s my first pachy and I really want to do right by it.

Really appreciate any suggestions or advice, thanks everyone

Can we get a daily thread going?

Would be good to have a daily thread for just random posts that might not be worthy of their own threads or people to just chat in, while we wait for orders perhaps.

I’d love to hear how everyone’s day is going, be able to share good/bad offers they’ve gotten, hear any funny or lucky stories or just any other rants. We could also have some of the repetitive posts assigned to those threads, like the shitty package delivery orders (they’re kinda all shitty in Sydney at least?)

And has anyone declined an alcohol delivery due to the customer being intoxicated? Had a bad experience very recently. My friends warned me and I didn’t listen.

Funnily enough every male I’ve delivered too has been extremely civil and pleasant. It’s the older ladies I’ve had issues with…

9.5/10 the customers are even more friendlier and civil than the usual customers, but that 0.5/10….
