[SE Portland] Looking for a roommate, $1150/mo (utilities included)

Hi! I (32M) am looking for a roommate to join the lease for my Sellwood apartment. It’s located on the first floor of a 2-family house. You’d have your own room (9'8" x 10'6", furnished with a full-sized bed and a dresser and with two closets), plus access to a shared kitchen, bathroom, dining, and living room. I didn’t include photos of the dining room since it’s a little lived-in at the moment, but there is additional shared space beyond what’s pictured—the dining room has a counter with stools, bookshelves, but not much else. Probably need some more furniture in there, like a table 😅

There is a washer and dryer in the semi-finished basement for our unit. The other side of the basement (about 11' × 30', or 330 sq ft) is also yours for storage/personal use. The house has a wrap-around porch and a side garden to enjoy. Street parking is available right in front of the entrance, and there’s a 1-car garage for storing stuff (e.g., bikes). The house is also within walking distance (5-15 minutes) of shops, restaurants, a New Seasons grocery store, and the Springwater Corridor bike path. The 40 and 70 bus lines are about 5 blocks away.

The lease runs from September 2026 through June 2027, and rent will be $1,150/month (utilities included). No smoking/vaping inside, and no pets are permitted on the lease. I work from home 1-2x per week from a desk in the corner of the dining room. I’m comfortable with someone using the common areas while I’m working, and most of the time my work is pretty quiet anyway. I occasionally have calls, so I’d hope we can be considerate of each other’s noise levels. On rare on-call days (about 1-2x per month), I could be on the phone quite a bit more. I’m also open to moving the desk to my bedroom; we can figure out the furniture arrangement together. I also have celiac disease, so I’d need a roommate to be conscientious about kitchen cleanliness and cross-contamination. You don't need to be gluten-free, but I'd need a roommate who's comfortable being careful about keeping shared kitchen surfaces and utensils clean.

About me: I'm clean, quiet, friendly, and fairly new to Portland. I enjoy biking, hiking, indie music, board games, rock climbing, and football. I am a scientist who works in public health. I also travel fairly regularly for work, so I'm not always around. When I am home, I prefer to keep it as my recharge spot and socialize outside of the house. I’m looking for someone who is OK with living in a quieter home and is communicative, respectful, and clean.

If you're interested, send me a little about yourself and your desired move in.

tldr:

  • Room size: 9’8”x10’6”
  • Rent: $1150/mo (utilities included)
  • Neighborhood: Sellwood
  • Ideal Move Date: 9/1/26
  • Lease Length: 9-month
  • Pets?: Not allowed on lease unfortunately
  • Parking?: Yes, street parking
  • Other requirements?: No smoking/vaping inside

Edit: Adding photos of the living room and dining area to this Imgur gallery!

The lease runs from September 2026 through June 2027, and your half of the rent will be $1,150 (utilities included). No smoking/vaping inside, and no pets are permitted on the lease. I do work out of my home office in the dining room often, so this rental may not be a good fit for someone needing to do the same. I also have celiac disease, so I’d need a roommate to be conscientious about kitchen cleanliness and cross-contamination. You don't need to be gluten-free, but I'd need a roommate who's comfortable being careful about keeping shared kitchen surfaces and utensils clean.
