iPad mini is well built machine for the right people !

Hey people !

I pulled the trigger on ipad mini A17 pro, few days ago. It has arrived and wow this is an absolute well engineered product. I’m not a fanboy of apple or anything but I have to admit Im quite deep within the ecosystem but this product is just purely satisfying to own and hold.

What fascinates me is.. Apple perhaps had an option to sell this ipad with a thinner bezel or a smaller screen size with less bezel but nope, they might have thought about how users will hold their product, how comfortable it is to carry this product, to use it in bed.. its just almost PERFECT.

I can see the hype over the AMOLED ver. Having a better screen on my phone does make a difference, but once you hold an ipad mini, you probably will spend sometime and forgot your iphone even exists for a brief moment.

Last but not least, well done Apple.. and guys, I was lurking in this sub for a bit before deciding to pull the trigger and I thank you all for sharing your experiences !

Mesh with wifi backhaul vs LAN backhaul

Hey legends, I’ve recently solved my slow home internet by using DECO mesh units as my APN and 1 extra extender on wireless backhaul and I’ve disabled my built in Huawei router APN so im relying fully on DECO. I’ve been doing speedtest around the house (3 stories) and its working like a charm now, im getting full bars and maximum speed as agreed with my ISP from most corners of the house. Now does it really matter to upgrade to LAN/cable backhaul if I’ve already gotten a good connection with wifi backhaul ? Will things improve much ? What am I maximising my doing cable backhaul ?

Using DAS/External HDD and not “NAS” type disk drive

Looking forward to my external WD drive to arrive (bought them not so cheap but was on special !) this drive will act as my main storage connected to my clamshell mode mac.
what is my risk to use this external hdd 24/7 and how close am I to disk failure since they are not “NAS” rated drives ? (My understanding is NAS drives has better reliability for 24/7 and constant read (perhaps write), I will be using my soon to arrive WD drive as part of my plex server & probably documents backup/photos from my phone.

Mac (clamshell) + HDD/SSD Enclosure instead of NAS

Hi Selfhosted legends.

Im currently running my “own server” with my unused mac currently on continuous clamshell mode with dummy hdmi plug.

Its going very very well at the moment hosting my small Plex library and Plex Amp and accessable via Tailscale and built in mad remote desktop thingy.

I have been utilising built in mac/ios to access files remotely on my phone while im outside.
Now this is amazing so far, great access remotely.

I have been thinking about getting NAS but with the price hike its gonna be a financial burden to buy a NAS unit itself plus the harddrives while if I buy HDD enclosure, Orico brand that I just quickly did search on costs about $150AUD for 4 bay enclosure - this is more reasonable with my current financial situation.

What are your thoughts about this topic ?

189/190 Early EOI with enough points or wait until able to maximise point ?

Hey folks, im sure everyone have been receiving news about the budget thingy and about the migration allocation expected to focus on onshore applicant.
If its true then I am very lucky to be onshore, currently holding 485 occupation is registered nurse (not yet skill assessed as waiting for payslips to qualify for registered nurse medical instead of nec).
My english however stuck at proficient and planning to do repeat test to chase 85 score on writing to meet superior english.
I am planning to lodge EOI but is it advisable to submit with maximum possible points or early submission and update the points as I go ?
Anyone can lay down the plus and minus would be amazing ! Thanks.
