Chaal'Thuon, chaos champion of C'huul (not-Slaanesh LOL)

Sculpted by Tim Prow for the Pantheon of Chaos project, based of Anthony Ackland's iconic illustration of chaos champion Gilberion the Lewd on Realms of Darkness - Slaves to Darkness.

As the illustration in question is perhaps my favourite Ackland piece in Slaves to Darkness, it's perhaps understandable that I kept pushing this model to the end of the queue. Also I wanted to try something different with it.

As the champion wears chaos armour, I took inspiration from coral and oyster shells, avoiding metals and stereotypical pastel hues. In the end, lots of glazing, and highlights with very diluted silver to achieve a sort of nacre effect (not immediately obvious from the photo).

I saved the best piece for last, and I'm finally done with all the champions on foot from the Pantheon of Chaos range! Moving on to the big guys, monsters, and so on...

Finished the core of my Malstrain gang with half a dozen of brood scum, and added two anonymous hive scum for good measure (may come in handy at some point). Not too shabby for a speedpainting project, I think... 🙂

The bugs were painted 95% with Vallejo Xpress, the bases were standard painting with a lot of Vallejo FX slapped on at random for weathering. I'm definitely making a Malstrain gang in addition to using them as NPC...
