The market grew 30% over the last 12 months and somehow I beat it by 27%

Today I was shocked to see how well my my portfolio performed over the last year. Just sharing my happiness, not trying to teach or guide or sell a course. To be honest, I'm a bit confused. It's possible this calculation is not accurate (I'm using Monarch). But I'm not going to analyze it, just going to be happy about it

Just thinking out loud: over the last few years almost 100% of my stocks were AI-related companies, and they performed extremely well. But early last year when Trump became President, and started doing crazy shit, I decided that I wanted to de-risk my portfolio. I diversified my holdings from 100% stocks to 50% cash. So I'm surprised to see I beat the market so much, seeing how more of my holdings are actually just straight up cash. Over the last year or so I've been buying back into stocks here and there, and I think right now I'm back to around 60-70% stocks.

It's possible that I was able to beat the market due to two things that most people don't do:

  1. I found a credit card deal that had a 12-month 0% APR cash advance loan. The only fee was a 3% initial transfer fee. I decided I wanted that leverage, so I took out a $45k credit card loan and paid the 3%. Then I invested the entire amount into the stock market. The investment did really well. I liquidated what I had to liquidate and paid off my credit card loan. Maybe this boosted my performance? I basically got a lot of gain of very little of my own principal

  2. I felt that Trump was going to lead the country in a selfish way that would focus on his own personal gain. I asked ChatGPT to give me a basket of stocks that would benefit based on this hypothesis. I took those stocks and essentially made my own "Trump is an evil bastard" ETF and invested into those companies. This included companies like prisons, oil & gas, etc. It did pretty well (but they weren't all winners)
