JHS Pulp N Peel buzz
Hello everyone,
I have a problem with my pulp n peel.
it makes my sound crackle, kinda distorted. to me it sounds like I'm clipping the input...

The first one is through a telecaster, the second on a P Bass. I bought the pedal for the bass, I don't think it is that noticeable on the guitar, although there's definitely some weird dirt in there to me. At the end of the bass recording, I turn the pedal off.
Everything is recorded straight from the DI output of the pedal into my audio interface, but the problem is there regardless of the output of the pedal. I've isolated the pedal for the recording, so it's directly powered by it's own cable. Comp setting is on the lower side (9 o'clock), blend is full.
I do have SPB 3s on my bass, so high(ish) output, but still, it seems weird that it would clip that way. I wanted a clean comp for my bass, but this is unusable as is...
I bought it second hand and I have no way of returning it, and I'm Europe.
Does anyone have any Idea what the problem could be, or how I could troubleshoot it ?
