STLV - Got my baseball signed!

Attended the STLV convention and got a baseball signed by all the main DS9 cast! (Rom was unwell and Bashir's autograph slots were sold out)

Had a great time meeting other fans and chatting with Cirroc, Nana, Chase and Terry.

If you were at STLV too, "Glory to You and your House!"

STLV - Meeting the crew of the NX-01!

Attended STLV (for the second time) and met the main cast of Enterprise after watching the entire show in the months leading up to the event. Watched a few episodes when it aired in the UK and went to a mock-up of the Armory set in London as part of the Star Trek: The Adventure exhibition from 2003.

Sat in on the Enterprise panels (I didn't get to be "Fernando from Brazil") and got to speak to Travis, Malcolm and Shran at the special cocktail party event. Also made a point of saying *"nice costume"* to as many people in NX-01 uniform as I could (sadly wasn't organized to get a costume in time so bought this t-shirt in the dealer room). Bought a complete set of trading cards for this show and now have the Blu-Ray for my second run-through.

Just finished the entire run of ENT

Star Trek and I go way back: grew up in the UK watching TOS re-runs on the BBC and I watched TNG while in high school. Watched a little of Voyager and DS9 on VHS (completed my DS9 run a few years ago).

Ahead of going to the big ST:LV convention in August, I gave myself the assignment of watching as much Trek as I could. I chose to watch the entire run of Enterprise because I only watched a few episodes when it aired in the UK (enjoyed all the TOS call-backs such as "Minshara Class planet").

Wow. The series shifts tone from starting out as explorers, making mistakes here and there ("Bro, do you even Prime Directive??") to the Temporal Cold War, Xindi War, Augments and the founding of the Federation. Yes, ENT reached its peak in S4 and I think Terra Prime (T'pol saying "Her name is Elizabeth" compromised me emotionally) is a good place to end a run (instead of the tacked-on "These Are The Voyages").

I wish this show survived to give us an Earth-Romulan War and putting a secondary hull onto the NX-01 to make it look like the Constitution class. Also seeing the other NX-01's that were named after STS vehicles (Space Shuttles). I enjoyed the upbeat Dr Phlox, Captain Archer sure does get beaten up a lot and Mirror Universe T'pol and Hoshi? Oh, my.

Favourite character: Shran. Because it's a Jeffrey Coombs universe and we just live in it. And I loved the idea of zombie Vulcans (SNW have us zombies again, unless some of you consider the Borg as technological zombies).

I have a new sense of respect for this show and the long road that the cast and crew wanted to set out on.

Must-Own ST Reference Books?

Used to own the Chronology and Encyclopedia by the Okuda's when I was in my 20's. Really wish I still had them. Are there any current reference books that are as good as these were? I think there was an Owners Manual for the Enterprise and Klingon BoP.

Behind the scenes at Canada's first Star Trek convention in 1976

Whilst researching Star Trek conventions, I discovered Toronto Star Trek '76 which documents Canada's first Star Trek convention. It was a fan-based effort (they even created the Enterprise bridge) and a glimpse of how conventions started out (mingle with Main Cast members! unlicensed merch!) compared to how they are these days.
