Heads up for Thailand domestic flights - check your overhead bags before leaving
This happened on a Thai Airways flight from Bangkok to Chiang Rai on 13 May 2026.
During the flight, a passenger seated one row behind us on the opposite side removed my bag from the overhead locker, went through it in his seat, and returned it some time later.
The wild part is that we accidentally captured the whole thing in the background of a selfie video we were recording at the time.
I’m not posting this to start a witch hunt or demand compensation - we’ve already reported it directly to Thai Airways in case anyone else was affected.
Posting mainly as a reminder to:
- keep valuables under your seat or on your person,
- be cautious with overhead lockers on busy flights,
- and check your bags before leaving the plane and airport.
Honestly posting more for awareness because I forgot this could happen mid-flight. We’re usually far more vigilant, but this was a short domestic connection after a red-eye and we weren’t exactly at our sharpest, so please go easy on us.
