[Thank You] DC postcard from Classic-Power-333
I just realized that I packed this card up already and forgot to write the thank you... So thank you, u/Classic-Power-333!
I just realized that I packed this card up already and forgot to write the thank you... So thank you, u/Classic-Power-333!
I know a few people have asked me for my address and you are waiting for me to respond... Apologies on that as I am moving and traveling over the summer, and I don't get a new PO box until Monday!
If you have my address already, here is a quick guide to what is good and what is not:
Massachusetts address: ❌ (I will have forwarding set up but not until Monday and don't trust my roommates to forward mail to me, sadly)
Texas address: ✅🌅(good as a backup for me until 8/18)
New York street address: ⏸️(only starts being good for me on 8/19, but if I've given it to you already it's OK because you are in a country that takes a while to send mail to me)
New York PO box: ✅ (I will be getting my number on Monday when I show them my ID! I will be in town for a few days and then traveling again so mail might sit around for a bit but it should get there!)
If you need my PO box I will be happy to DM you on Monday :)
I am in the throes of finishing up my packing and since I won't get any more mail here before I move out... Here goes (sorry for the shorter than usual messages):
u/melhen16: Thank you for the Meta Challenge Card!
u/iheartcitrus: Thank you for the invitation to the ball! :)
u/Jester_Magpie: Thank you for the Juneau card! I will be there in about a week and a half :)
u/turnerd10: Thank you for the July 4 card and cool RAoC date stamp!
Thank you to everyone who is humoring my attempts to receive as many cards as possible in the few weeks before I move... New PO box coming in about a week and a half! Until then...
u/jade-daisy: Thank you so much for the very cute little bird zine! I will share with my coworker who loves zines and who I hope will like this one as much as I did!
u/TyeDyeAmish: Thank you for the road postcard! There was an article on the Postcrossing blog about a book called "Boring Postcards" recently so I thought this was very timely!
u/Aztec111: Thank you very much for the homemade cat postcard! I am very much a cat person over an 80s' person haha (late 90's kid here...)
u/RideThatBridge: Thank you for the thank you haha and hope your friend's surgery went well!
u/Sension5705: As usual, thank you so much for your kindness and for all the goodies, and glad you were able to sneak this one in before I move!
u/Umlautless: Thank you for the "howdy" card! It reached my parents fairly quickly though I think it would have still reached my real address on time too!
Okay, I couldn't think of anything else ending in M so the current title will have to do... (and it is not really a mega thank you anyway, just trying to do these more often so I minimize the odds of losing something in the tornado zone that is my half-packed up room...)
u/Eastern-Witch829: Thank you for the tarot pull and congrats again on the Canes! Every time I saw something about that I think of Raising Cane's haha... I will probably send a reaction to your tarot back in the mail because I do have thoughts!
u/tyedyeamish: Thank you for the Niagara Falls card! I did do Maid of the Mist when I went last year and it was, well, misty!
u/enrasco: Thank you for the Meta Challenge card (flowers/springtime)! I think it's so lovely that we received each other's cards on exactly the same day :D
u/Classic-Power-333: omg, you have to add me to the NYC Postcrossing meetup group! All of these sound so fun! More in your inbox shortly (hopefully you have received my Burlington card by now... :))
u/cookiecriminal: Thank you for the New York City postcard and Go Knicks!
u/marchbook: Thank you so much for the collage, I think they turned out really well and such a great idea! Sadly I'm probably not artsy enough to pull an imitation off...
u/BubblySunflowers: I actually haven't ever read or watched Dracula! Frankenstein, yes... I actually did just finish a romantasy where one of the main romantic interests is a vampire though... Maybe I'll write you back to tell you about it baha!
u/CheeseWheelQueen: Thank you so much for the second installment of your snail mail club! I should have a new address for you soon :)
u/DoraDoodle: Thank you so much for the thoughtful card! I really do appreciate it and lmk if you want a postcard from my travels this summer :)
u/Green-Fudge4629: Wow, thank you so much for your thoughtfulness! I love the vintage NYC card and agree it is too pristine to write on (and to send naked in the mail honestly)... I'm very much enjoying this week's cooler weather especially as our AC is still on the fritz!
I have quite a few cards that I am hoping someone else in this community can enjoy as I am trying to destash in advance of my move next month 😄
Available are:
5x gilded leaves cards (Chronicle Books)
7x Otomi embroidered textile art (Princeton Architectural Press)
3x Botanicum (botanical prints)
2x vintage style travel posters
10x vintage fish block print postcards
14x assorted Trader Joe's thank you cards
2x floral "blankenside" Trader Joe's cards
1x birds "blankenside" Trader Joe's cards
Here is a form to fill out: https://forms.gle/U52ncs2XXSqjSrjJ7
After a little while (with the help of my computer scientist family), I will try to match people with cards so that utility is maximized overall!
As I don't want to spend a fortune mailing these cards, I'm going to limit these to US only (but if you are WW and we have corresponded before — i.e. we have both sent each other something in the past — then I will be happy to send you something 😄)
Doing this a bit more frequently this week because my mail is all over the place and my desk is messier than usual...
u/Classic-Power-333: Thank you for the New Jersey LouPaper card! I am going to Rhode Island in a week and a half and need to stock up on RI cards since it seems like few people here are from there so I can help people out with their 50 state projects haha
u/rand_ston: Thank you for the cute pop-up pride card 😄
u/PinkPengin: Thank you so much for the balloons postcard and lovely handwriting as always 😄
I am procrastinating on my packing, planning, and moving, and what better way to do that than to set up a card offer on RAoC? I am planning a big Asia trip over the summer and would like to offer cards to the lovely folks here from my trip!
I've set up a form for my easy reference while I'm abroad: https://forms.gle/awnv76r5csGLnbKv5
I plan to acquire cards specifically for this purpose while I am traveling so the form has a few more questions than usual as I will have the opportunity to tailor my picks to people's preferences. I will also get a stash of touristy postcards from the places I'm going so that will always be a default option if you aren't picky!
As I am spending time and money out of my trip sending folks things, I'll limit this to flaired only at this point (but feel free to fill out now if you are working towards your flair and anticipate being flaired sometime while I'm gone, I will double check before I send you something). I'm not sure if I will make a post office run everywhere I'm going (I haven't yet compared international postcard prices yet) but I will make every effort to send domestic mail domestic where possible (including when I'm back in the US to US addresses).
Anyway. Please let me know if this is overly complicated and comment your summer plans below once you've filled out the form!
Two more people who eluded my post from yesterday...
u/Puzzleheaded-Two1645: Thank you so much for the card! I found this one hiding between my bed frame and the wall rip...
u/iheartcitrus: Thank you so much for the Pride card! Hoping you're enjoying citrus of all kinds in this oppressively hot weather!!
Apologies if I've missed anyone this round, my room has been a bit of a mess as I've started packing up to move out 😄
u/PureAloeVeera: Thank you so much for the best Pride card I've received so far, I am wondering if I should try my hand at designing my own but have not had the time or the creative energy really...
u/Ok-Cryptographer4988: Muito obrigado pela carta, estou escrevendo-lhe de volta como falamos 😄
u/paganinipanini: I definitely lost your last card but remember receiving it so want to make sure you get thanked here 😄 Thanks for DMing me your new address!
u/peppiminti: Thank you for the Acadia postcard 😄 I am actually moving to New York over the summer, hope to see you at a meetup or catch you around!
u/BubblySunflowers: Thank you for the book rec! Reminds me I need to get your card in the mail tomorrow... 😅
I am WFH at this cute little teahouse near me with some nice matcha and good vibes and they have some cute little postcards that they will send out for me! Flaired and US only (they sadly won't send out cards internationally and I don't want to abuse their generosity by sending more than five). I'm going to do a form this time so I can have addresses relatively quickly and please comment when you have filled with your favorite tea or matcha drink 😄

Edit: Fulfilled! Wow that was quick...
I'm looking to sublet my room in Allston from July 1 to August 31. The room is in a townhouse-style apartment with three other male roommates about a six-minute walk from the Packard's Corner B Line station and a 10-minute walk from the 64 and 66 buses with service to Cambridge and Brookline.
The rent is $1,011 a month. Water and sewer is included in the rent, but electric and Wifi are separate (about $150-200 during the summer). No security deposit, last month's deposit, or any other miscellaneous fees. Pets may be allowed depending on size/breed.
The room can come furnished (details negotiable).
Still no AC in the apartment so I spent the afternoon catching up on cards that I owe people in a coffee shop... a woman sat next to me at the communal table I was at and said something along the lines of, "good for you, I wish more people did handwritten cards these days!" and I was so touched haha.
Without further ado...
u/paganinipanini: Yes, I did actually make it to the Boston Stamp Show! Hopefully by now you have gotten the meetup card that I sent you 😄
u/LeglessShark: Catalina Island sounds so fun!! One of my coworkers is from SoCal and she loves it there! And I guess we will be saving money on utilities with our AC out haha...
u/texanoutofwater: Thank you for the California railroad museum postcard! I too do not much miss the politics (or the summer heat...)
u/ReginaBeatle: Thank you so much for the pride card!! 😄
I am sad to say that I am so behind on making thank you's, though I have had a very strange two weeks in terms of travel and work stuff and now to top it all off my AC is not working and my landlord is not being particularly responsive...
Without further ado, here is my Cane's-style thank you post haha:
u/armyofducks94: Thank you for the Austin postcard! I also go to Austin once a year (well, technically Georgetown) to visit my grandparents who live down there!
u/rare_cranberry_7861: Thank you so much for the ostrich card and for sharing the wealth that you got for your birthday! A birthday card for you is in the mail 😄
u/Hoolu123: Thank you for your offer and for the cute USPSPSPS card 😃
u/ShouldBeTeaching: Thank you for your bookish postcard! I just finished up "The Last Contract of Isako" which was an interesting sci-fi book set in a bit of a dystopian corporatocracy, but it didn't seem too dystopian and I got through it fairly quickly!
u/FollowingTheBeat: Thank you for the cute farm life postcard! Can't ever be me... (#CityBoy)
u/elleeb8: Thank you for the "advice from a sea turtle" card! Hope you enjoy your time in the pool 😄
u/Morticia_Devine: Thank you for the cool photo postcard! My brother lives in Seattle and I am looking forward to a family trip to the San Juan Islands to see him next month!! This was actually my first meetup over Memorial Day 😄
u/Adept-Mulberry-6570: Thank you for the seated Buddha postcard from China (I think? haha) and for the sage saying on the back!
u/Tasty_University_172: Thank you for the tarot-ish reading, it honestly gave me tingles (good tingles!) throughout! I'll let you know if the advice holds water 😅
u/Andromeda921: Thank you for the card and the recommendation! I'll have to look into A Woman is No Man!
u/YukiNoAshiato: Thank you so much for the cat card and the advice on the DF! This somehow took FOREVER to get to me but I'm glad that it did make it!!
u/DeborahVanDenBoogah: Thank you so much for the stamp math and the cool stickers on this card 😄
u/Classic-Power-333: Thank you so much for the Stonewall meetup card and the unsolicited note haha! More TK in response in the mail 😄
u/sweetp0tat0pancakes: Thank you so much for the cute handmade pumpkin patch/field card! It honestly reminds me of New England apple picking vibes!
u/paganinipanini x3: Thank you for the life updates and hope the unpacking goes well! Is your address the same over the summer? I'd love to keep this exchange going!
I spent a nice day on Saturday doing a day trip from Boston and very much looking forward to going to the Boston Stamp Show again tomorrow! A lot of belated thank you's in this one... (and, interestingly, one extra card from Taiwan that I accidentally received for someone on a totally different street because I guess my letter carrier just assumed that I was the only one receiving mail from all four corners of the globe or something 😂). Sorry if these are a little short as I'm quite tired but fear if I don't work on them right now I won't get to them for another few days...
u/Alarmed_Ad9001: Thank you for the funny card and the book recs! I'll add both There Is No Antimimetics Division and Kismet to my reading list!!
u/Ok_Theme7072: Thank you for the Wind in the Willows Card!!
u/lemon-on-trees: Thank you for the cute Squishmallow postcard!! I have mostly been watching Heated Rivalry on repeat or old Mayday episodes on Youtube these days haha 😄
u/DeborahVanDenBoogah: Thank you so much for the banh mi counter postcard! It's such a good picture and for some reason reminds me of the "burger pop fry" scene from Kim's Convenience haha!
u/elleeb8 and u/theblueeyedphoenix: Thank you so much for the book recs and the cute postcard from your meetup 😄
u/Classic-Power-333: Thank you so much for the card and your note! I will respond in more detail by snail mail when I have another quiet moment (today has been a little crazy haha).
u/Accotinked: Thank you for the Mainzer cats postcard for the RAoC Meta flower card challenge!
u/Ok_Reveal2698: Thank you for the card and for the recommendation! Sadly I am still kind of behind on getting cards back but it will get out this week!
u/emmasaysouchies: Aww thank you for the thank you postcard! You have such neat handwriting ❤️
u/Adept-Mulberry-6510: Thank you for the farm-tastic card 😄
u/stillsheryl: Thank you for the NYC card! I am actually moving to NYC in the fall so hoping to meet you in person at a RAoC meetup 😃
NYC Meetup Crew (u/Classic-Power-333, u/icono-clastic, u/Christinaaaa29, u/CapnCobbler, u/bananas3706, u/PureAloeVeera, u/sunflour (sic)): Thank you all for the card and for the recommendations!!
u/ribeyecut: Thank you for the card and the recs! I sent out your card and don't remember if I talked about Captive Prince actually... I feel like I have a card's worth of thoughts on the series that I will send out when I have more than two brain cells rubbing together haha!
u/Tigerlady13: Thank you so much for the newsletter type card and the wise words!
u/SeriousPotatoes: Thank you for the vintage Las Vegas card and the fun fact!
u/DoraDoodle: Thank you for the nice cottagecore card! 😄
u/GatsbyGalaktoboureko: Thank you for the nice zinnia postcard from the RAOC Meta card challenge!
u/soxgal: Thank you for the card! I have some thoughts/answers in response that I will write out when I have more than two brain cells rubbing together haha 😄
u/CheeseWheelQueen: Thank you so much for the newsletter post! My parents scanned in this letter for me and I'm sure they had a million questions haha but I'm glad they decided discretion was the better part of valor, lol. Funnily enough I saw about a dozen baby ducklings today 😄
Putting this in a separate post in case it's more likely that the mystery sender sees this... Mystery sender, thank you for the Duckzilla postcard dated March 27! It sure took its sweet time in getting here... Hope it is not so cold, and more sunny now!
My usual Thursday evening exercise class was canceled so I can get some thank you's in earlier than I might have otherwise 😄
u/SatanekoChan: Thank you so much for the Vatican Museums postcard! I hope to visit there one day 😄
u/ninajyang: Thanks so much for the art card and the trips for traveling in China! I will try and earmark a postcard from my travels for you and send it when I get back 😄
u/rebelraf: Thank you so much for the Easter card! Strange that it took so long to get here... I also had a lot of fun dyeing eggs as a child! We used them to make deviled eggs which were so delicious!! But I haven't spent Easter at home in a while 😞
u/turnerd10: Thank you for the Memorial Day card and photo!
u/enrasco: Thank you for the Star Wars postcard! I definitely concur with you on Thrawn! May the Fourth Force be with you!
u/WerewolfBarMitzvah09: Thank you for the cute cat art postcard! What a kittez!!
u/medjuli: Thank you for the Vienna card! I've technically been to Austria—though for about 20 minutes haha (it was a train passing from Munich to Zurich that crossed through Bregenz). My dad was actually born in Austria and I'd like to go back sometime!!
u/christineglobal: All the things you said, running through my head, running through my head... I actually started on the main Heated Rivalry novel today! It had a crazy wait time at the BPL haha. I got some of the other novels in the series and enjoyed them, curious to see how it compares to the show! Anyway I feel like I will reply more via snail mail 😄
Hi fellow readers! I just finished a book in my lunch break that I really enjoyed, and I am still thinking about it three hours later instead of getting any work done, lol. So, in honor of that, I'd like to do another bookish exchange! I know there have been a few on this sub but I really enjoy doing them.
I have 10 cards to exchange. I'm going to keep this US only this time since I'm moving at the end of June/beginning of July and I don't want to risk cards missing me because they took months to get here and then got lost in the ether.
To claim, please comment your favorite genre of books and I will try to tailor my cards! I'm primarily a sci-fi reader but have started venturing into romantasy, any flavor of MM romance, and mystery. I'd prefer to exchange with flaired users this time around but if you have received thank you's and are waiting for your flair, that is OK too.
Edit to clarify: I will try to tailor my recommendations to the genre you pick, I'd appreciate if you sent me stuff in the genres that I like but feel free to send whatever or books that you read recently and liked 😄
u/melhen16: Thank you so much for the San Francisco postcard! I was there last year and had a really good time, hoping to go next year for my good friend's graduation from Stanford!
u/Adept-Mulberry-6510: Thanks for the humuhumunukunukuapua'a card! My dad has like three humuhumu mugs that he got in Hawaii in his mug collection and it is so fun to say any time we use one of them haha!
u/cookbree: Thank you for the springtime/Easter card! I did absolutely nothing special on Easter that I remember haha!
u/paganinipanini: I love that we have multiple cards traveling back and forth at the same time haha... I think I answered your questions in this card in the card that I sent on Friday before getting this card in the mail at home on Friday haha!
u/ToastyToska: Thank you so much for the Humans of New York postcard! Your exchange will be going in the mail tomorrow or Tuesday! 😄
