academic advisor interview

hi all! i just got an interview for an academic advising position and was hoping to get some insight on what to prep.

i’m a fresh university grad with experience as an don/RA and other student leadership & admins roles, but obviously none as an academic advisor. luckily enough, i’d be advising the same area of study i just graduated from which i hope gives me a leg up.

any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Part-time field-related job or full-time retail job?

Hoping to get some advice! I (20) just graduated college with a marketing diploma and have been struggling to find a job for months. However I have 2 job offers at the moment, and I’m struggling to pick between the two.

Job 1 is reception and marketing duties… but it’s only 24 hours a week (8 hour shifts with 2 hour unpaid lunch, 3 days a week).

Job 2 is a full-time position (35-40hrs/week) as a retail supervisor.

After being unemployed for several months, I’m inclined to take the full-time job, but I’m worried about falling behind in my career path. I’m lucky to live at home with my parents, but I’ll have to start paying my student loans back soon.

So, do I take the job in my field with less hours or do I take the full-time position until I can hopefully find a full-time marketing position? What would you do?

long period/spotting 4 months after insertion

i got my first iud (mirena) back in mid february and i had consistent spotting for around a month then fully stopped.
my last two periods have been super light (light-heavy spotting) but they last awhile. this period i’ve been bleeding for over 20 days! and it’s fresh blood (pink). is this normal? and will it lighten up bc bleeding for most of the month is really frustrating 🫠

couldn’t fall asleep during MSLT

currently doing the mslt and just failed the first nap because of my anxiety. i’ve been so anxious ever since i read the timing criteria that i wouldnt fall asleep in time and it’s finally happened. i was counting in my head but it only spiked my anxiety to know how long it had been and i hadn’t fallen asleep. at one point it felt like that weird state of sleep when you’re out but still feel like you’re awake and can hear stuff, but the nurse told me i didnt sleep and stopped the test at 20 mins.

i think the anxiety is because i feel like this diagnosis is my only hope of not being tired for the rest of my life. i’m 22f with ADHD and after feeling exhausted on vyvanse, adderall & wellbutrin my psychiatrist started to suspect IH and i was referred to a sleep doctor who agreed it “strongly sounds like IH”.

i’ve tried supplements (vitD, b12, iron - you name it, i’ve been tested for & probably taken it) and nothing takes away my extreme sleepiness and need to nap. i just don’t want to feel like this forever and this diagnosis seems like hope of getting meds that make me not feel like that, but the anxiety of that diagnosis riding on this test is killing my sleep! i don’t know what to do!

fifth metatarsal avulsion fracture & recovery

i fractured my fifth metatarsal (and sprained my ankle) 19 days ago. the first 11 days it was diagnosed as an ankle sprain and i was completely unable to bear weight. day 12 rediagnosed properly after a referral to an orthopedic clinic.
i’ve been FWB in a walking boot for 7 days and still have some pain, but it’s not major. bruising has gone down but there’s definitely still some swelling.

doc said i should be boot for a month and hopefully i’ll be better by then, but i graduate university 10 days after my follow up appointment. if im out of the walking boot, is it likely ill be able to wear heels? or is there typically a longer time to get back to heels in restrengthening the ankle and stuff?
