Opportunity to get CWI should I go for it?

Have been fitting and welding 20 years, i am well paid and quite frankly bored with it many days. An opportunity has come along to become a CWI , company paid seminar/test when I pass it. required ot (not mandatory with my current role). company paid stipend for phone. I am nervous if I do it for some reasons but will never know if it is a good fit for me to move into unless I try it. No initial extra pay after becoming a CWI but to have it done I think would be great to have on a resume if something were to happen with my current employer. Would you do it? No way to know for sure but with being a CWI I have to imagine that after proving myself as a Inspector the pay would with time get higher than welder pay... or other companys looking for a cwi if this company doesn't want to pay that it would be a vertical move pay wise.. thoughts?

how and when should I tell the company I don't want the promotion?

I have gone through 3 interviews this week for an internal job posting but think I don't want the job, should I tell them asap or wait if I get an offer for the position? I was thinking sending an email similar to this to the hiring manager ............ Thank you for the opportunity to interview for the position. After giving it careful thought and learning more about the responsibilities, I’ve decided that it is not the right fit for me at this time. I look forward to the future with my current role and want to focus on gaining more machining experience and knowledge. I appreciate everyone's time and wish you the best in finding the right candidate

Recently went in for interview unsure if I will take the job

Cwi position open at a company willing to train me as an inspector and pay for the cwi upon passing the test. however when pay was brought up I was told there wouldn't be much of a bump on account of me being a welder at this company for 20 years and I already make what a cwi would if they were to hire outside. so to me with those facts , the additional responsibilities of getting the cwi, being an inspector, emails, documentation , training of welders. etc required ot. for no additional pay. doesn't sound very appealing. upside though would be if I Pass and get the cwi, then I have that in the unfortunate case of me losing my current job. would you take the job or just stay a fitter/welder with apparently cwi pay at this company? Looking for others opinions.. TIA

is it worth it money wise to switch after close to 20 years as a welder into the ndt field. I will never know everything about welding but have been bored for a long time and not looking for a lateral change to another welding company
