Last minute set 💅

Last minute set 💅

I already had a few sets of nails waiting for me to wear this month (mostly Halloween theme). But then I had scheduled an engagement ring window shopping with my bestie so I thought I gotta wear something a little more elegant for the occasion, lol. Quickly stopped by Marshalls and got this beautiful set. Can always count on Nail Reformation for a quick pretty set.

I’m so in love with the press-on nails

I never thought I would be so into it like I am right now. I keep on staring at my nails, proud of my work 💅 and that happens weekly! Could never happen before, as I used to get my nails done every 4 weeks (acrylic and gel) and paid between $60-90 each time.

I barely ever got a design before. And if any, it was only 1 nail on each hand (cos expensive!) Sometimes they couldn’t even nail (no puns intended) the inspo.

Another thing is out of those 4 weeks, only 2 weeks I was happy about it. Week 3-4 it’s grown out and the nails get dirty underneath and it’s pretty embarrassing for anyone to see the trapped dirt. But well, I couldn’t get a new set cos that would double my budget.

I started thinking to try the press-ons. There’s a part of me that’s skeptical. There’s no way it would nearly look or feel as close to the salon made. But guess what? My suspicion that the press-on nail technology has advanced way more than before turned out to be true.

Now I have too many selections. I hoard, just like most of us lol. But it’s so fulfilling. Most of them are so so pretty. I love my nails 😊

Glamnetic - berry fizz

Got this pretty set from Marshall’s for $9.99.
I think I got the sizing better now. Previously I did too small of sizing and it made my fingers hurt lol.

New week new nails

It’s been 1.5 months since I switched from acrylic to press-ons. I told my friend last week, “I think I’m over the honeymoon phase. I’m gonna start keeping my set for 2 weeks instead of just a week.”

And yet here I am, decided to get a new set again this week 😂

This is my 3rd Nail Haven and I’m loving it! My previous NH’s sets were pretty thick towards the cuticle so I was slightly bummed (eventho they still looked beautiful). But this set lays pretty flush and tapered towards the cuticle. I guess I’ll give Nail Haven more chance now.

Glamnetic is that girl 💅

My 2nd glamnetic and this is from their Halloween edition. Was worried that it was gonna chip (bc last time I had the chrome style and it chipped so fast), but it’s been ok after 2 days now.

For you that use Glamnetic, other than chrome, do they maintain the color well? Do I need a gel top coat?

Anyway, really happy with this set! I have tried nail reformation, shein nails, the only nails, nail haven, and now I’m thinking maybe I should just stick with only Glamnetic lol ( pricey tho 🫤). I have really tiny nails (xs for most handmade sets) and yet some handmade sets are still a little too big for me. I tried filing them but feels like a hassle. Still need to try BTArtbox or some KISS nails.

Glue and tabs combo is the GOAT

This was my 5th application (I’m a newbie) within about a month and finally the last one I put on is so sturdy, even today after a whole week. Initially I started using tabs only bcos I wanted to be able to remove it easily, but I realized the glue remover could remove the brush-on glue just fine. I tried the brush-on glue application only, and that one was still not as sturdy. But the glue+tabs is the game changer. Now after a week, I started getting more rough with washing dishes and just doing anything in general bc I’m ready for a new set (mentally) haha.

Now, it is an unusual thing for me is to keep the nails past a week. I’m so used to change the nails every 5 days or one week but today I’m like, eh, the nails still look good and sturdy. Maybe I can keep them a few more days or even another week. The downside is that I can see about 0.5mm growth near the cuticle now. But before press-ons, I used to get my nails done every 4 weeks with some crazy growths lol, so why would I be bothered by a week growth now 🤔. Maybe with the press-on there’s more pressure/insecurity on myself to make my nails look as natural as possible.

I recently bought the semi solid glue (curvlife) but haven’t tried it. I might not even need it for now. I guess we’ll see.

I guess I don’t really have any questions, just wanted to point out how nice it is to have a sturdy set of press-on nails! I was almost discouraged by the transition from salon to press-on because I always felt like I needed to be really careful in doing anything to preserve the nails.

Update: I just removed my nails and the removal takes forever.. it was fairly easy to remove the press-on nails but man, the disintegrated sticky tabs were just so hard to clean up. Feel free to comment your ultimate guide to remove the sticky tab residue (after it being so disintegrated by the nail glue).

Love this zodiac set!

Retail brand: Nail Haven on TikTok shop
Style: zodiac (leo)

First time doing sticky tabs+brush-on glue hybrid method and I’m in love! This set is so pretty and it feels sturdy now.

Usually Nail Haven is too thick for me to apply with the tabs only and it would start lifting and wiggling. It’s only day 1 though, we shall see!

The only thing is that I feel the nails aren’t as shiny? For you who tried Nail Haven, do you apply gel top coat again? It looks pretty solid and wouldn’t chip. I just would like it to be more shiny.

Which BTArtbox for french nails

Hello nail girlies, I kept seeing people recommending BTArtbox for french nails due to how great selection they have for different skin tones.

I’m opening their website now but can’t quite figure it out. Which one is it? Is it the $26.99 ish xcoattips? It seems a bit more complicated than a regular press-on? They also have the $15 xcoatpress.

Thanks!!

My First Nail Reformation

Looks pretty, but it’s a little too curved for me so it’s hurting some fingers. I used sticky tabs.

I’m still searching for my favorite brand. I really liked the fit of Glamnetic on me, but I only tried their short ones. I should try their longer version next time and see if I still like it. Although they’re kinda pricey 🫤. I never found a good looking Glamnetic at TJMaxx so far.

Anyway, I bought this set at TJMaxx for $9.99 before tax.

So far I’ve tried:
Glamnetic short: good fit but the chrome chipped off super fast
Nail Haven short: good but hard to fit the cuticle part. Thick

First Glamnetic and I’m obsessed

My first Glamnetic but technically my 2nd press-on nails ever. I think I really like this style, since I’m using sticky tabs and I don’t feel the wiggling as much as the longer style.

Today is day 3 though and I can see it’s starting to chip off at the bottom edge (as I heard mostly about chrome) but not super noticeable. Maybe next time l’ll try using a gel top coat. Feel free to comment on your favorite gel top coat brand (I have a UV lamp to cure).

Anyway, I really really like this chrome on me. It feels expensive 💅 (I think it’s even prettier in person, it has a hint of lilac color).
