U.S. iX3 went into production

Today my U.S. IX3 car was assigned a VIN and entered production. The car is scheduled to be completed and trucked to the ship on August 29, with my dealer to get the car in the U.S. about a month later. The dealer told me they were allocated 38 cars but only mine and another car will be delivered in the initial delivery.

The specs for the car states “Decoding for no-dazzle high-beam assistance”. Does this mean the non-dazzle feature will be enabled when I receive the car, or will it be necessary to program this operation into a U.S. spec car? If it needs to be programmed, how is it done? Is any special software needed? Thanks.

IX3 production date change

I placed a reservation for the BMW IX3 back in May. About a week after paying the $1,000 reservation fee, I received a production number with an indicated build date of week 41 (first week of October).

At the time I placed the reservation, the dealer said they would be getting demonstration cars and paint samples in the June to July time period. No problem I thought. Thereafter, they informed me that the demo cars and paint samples would not be received until September, not giving me much time to finalize the order, but still doable.

Today I was notified that production of my vehicle was advanced to start on week 36 (August 30) and I would need to finalize my order by mid-August. How am I to do that when I have not seen the car in person, sat in one, played with the navigation and voice recognition systems or seen actual paint samples and interior material colors?

I have texted my salesperson but have not heard from him yet. I called BMW corporate to ask about delaying the build until I get to see and test drive an actual iX3, and was told they can not delay my production.

What options do I have? This is my first BMW order so I don’t know how they operate. Is my only option to cancel the reservation? I bought my current car, a 2025 Lucid Air, thinking the navigation and voice recognition systems would be at least equal to those found in my prior Tesla model S cars, but boy was I wrong. The navigation system likes to issue incorrect directions, and the voice recognition system fails on simple commands such as “call John smith”. I’m not buying another car without first determining how good the navigation and voice recognition systems are. The system in the iX3 (and upcoming i3 sedan) are new, so there is no other BMW car I can “play with” to test these systems. Anyone have suggestions? Thanks.

Told Pre-orders for iX3 ends in 6 days in the U.S.

I visited my BMW dealer today to see several videos of the new iX3 he had taken during his dealer training seminar last week. I had placed my reservation for the car in early May, 2026.

He told me about 7500 ix3 cars have been allocated to the U.S. for the 2027 model year. As of today, BMW has received over 5,000 U.S. reservations. He also said that only 6 more days remain to pre-order (reserve) the car before BMW shuts it down. I asked what happens after that time and he said any remaining non-reserved cars of the 7500 total will be allocated to dealers based upon how many cars each dealer has taken reservations for. He indicated that the majority of iX3 cars have been reserved in California and Florida (his dealership has taken 31 reservations), while the Midwest has taken only 4 reservations. In other words, the more reservations a dealer has received (taken), the greater the odds of getting some of the non-allocated cars.

My car is currently scheduled to go in production in October.

Finally, it is currently expected that the bidirectional wall charger (Pro version) will become available in November, 2026.

Had it with Lucid

Have a 2025 Air Pure. Received a notice that a software update was available. Then I read here that cars were being bricked by installing the update. On Saturday I read that the software had been corrected so I went to the car to initiate the update, only to discover that Lucid had pulled the update from the car,

I’m not upset that they pulled the update and even appreciate that they took steps to prevent owners from having their car bricked. What I am upset about is that in pulling the update, they also removed the credentials for my phone so it no longer connects to the car. Further, their pulling of the software update also deleted the credentials for Tunein, Spotify and every other streaming service that was installed. Not only did they insult us with issuing a poorly tested update before sending it to owner!s vehicle, but they over-reached in pulling back not just the update but all other software related matters.

Lucid’s hardware team produced a great driving care from a hardware prospective. But their software team has been a disaster and the new software team seems to be no better. I’m done with the company. I went yesterday and put in a reservation for the BMW iX3 and will dump the Air when the BMW arrives.

DVDFab and Pioneer drives

Just got a notice stating DVDFab now supports Pioneer drives.

The notice states it works with Pioneer disc drives right away! They natively support popular models across their entire UHD series, while their integrated UHD Drive Tool handles drives with restricted firmware through downgrade or cross-flash.

They state that your Pioneer drive is ready to use immediately with DVDFab UHD solutions. Simply connect high-demand models like the BDR-XS07UHD or BDR-S12UHT and start your UHD tasks with zero additional steps.

Quickly fix firmware on supported models like the BDR-S13UBK / S13JX, BDR-212UBK, and BDR-211UBK.

Unlock 4K potential on non-UHD models such as BDR-S12XLT or BDR-212V by cross-flashing them to compatible UHD versions.
