Feeling really defeated over parental leave situation

Feeling really depleted and upset and wondering if anyone has gone through something similar..

My husband works for council and is being denied his primary carer’s leave because I’m only returning to casual work. His coordinator and colleagues have been supportive, but the people handling leave entitlements keep saying we don’t meet the requirements without clearly explaining why.

He has provided every document they asked for including stat decs and a letter from my teaching agency confirming I’ll be committing to taking on consistent and regular shifts up to 5 days a week which they can connect me to various schools. I’m a casual teacher and just can’t return to full time work yet with multiple kids and the workload and after hours work that comes with full time teaching.

What’s frustrating is he kept asking them in writing to show which part of the EBA or policy says he’s not eligible, but they couldn’t clarify and instead asked for a face to face meeting. Even then, they still couldn’t explain properly and just said they're rejecting it because I'm casual..

They also told him he can’t claim Centrelink parental leave pay if he receives the parental paid leave from work, which I thought wasn’t true?

Just feeling really defeated at this point. Has anyone dealt with something similar or challenged a decision like this?

Heggerty or Toddlers Can Read by Spencer?

I’m a primary teacher (also ect qualified) and my toddler has recently become really interested in letters and letter sounds. She already recognises some letters, enjoys singing Jolly Phonics songs, and seems genuinely excited when we do little literacy activities together. My goal is more about building phonemic awareness, confidence, and a love for reading.
For anyone who has used either (or both!) programs at home:
-Which did your toddler respond to better?
-Pros and cons?
-Did you find one more realistic/easy to implement for a 2 year old?
-Did you see progress after starting the program?
-Any other resources or first steps you’d recommend for this age?

Would especially love to hear from parents/teachers who started early literacy casually at home 😊

House & land package or wait for established home? Feeling slightly pressured

Hi everyone, needing some advice ASAP as we’ve already paid a deposit to secure land for a house & land package, but we’re feeling unsure now.

We’re first home buyers with 2 young dependents. Husband earns around $100k full time, and I’ll be returning to casual work and picking up extra shifts.

Our broker seems very focused on maximising our borrowing capacity based on the income estimate we gave. When I expressed concern about repayments and wanting flexibility long term, they reassured us there “shouldn’t be a problem” if I continue that work plan.

The package fits our budget and has benefits like stamp duty savings, but:
• it’s not our ideal location
• we may have a chance to buy an established house in a better area if we wait 6 months
• we feel pressured not to lose the land
• we’re unsure what happens if finance approval falls short later

Also got told private building inspections during construction could delay the build, which concerned us.

Would love honest opinions:
• Are we overextending?
• Are brokers/builders biased toward new builds?
• Would you buy now or wait?

Feeling overwhelmed and would appreciate advice from people who’ve been through this.

Hi! I’m getting some skincare for Mother’s Day and I’m so excited 🥹 it’s been a while since I’ve properly looked after my skin 😩

I have dry, sensitive skin and with two little ones, I’m after something quite low maintenance and simple.

If you could only keep 3 products in your skincare cabinet, what would they be? 👀 Would love to hear your holy grails especially anything that gave you noticeable results quickly! 🥰
