Question on First Fifteen Lives of Harry August

In the book, the Cronus Club makes an effort to prevent a kalachakra’s birth if they cause extreme destruction through the rest of time, such as Victor Hoeness and Vincent Rankis.

Does this mean the Cronus Club/Harry always go out and prevent those people’s births in their next life, just as Vincent had to use the Forgetting machine each time on Harry (not knowing it doesn’t work on him)?

Finally in my clothes from 2014 and earlier

I kept a few bins of ‘skinny clothes’ for 12 years of my life that are basically from my entire weight gain trajectory going from 127 to about 170. As I’ve lost weight from 197 and the larger items started to look ridiculous, I’ve been pulling items from these bins to pad my wardrobe. It’s been 18 months of that.

I’m FINALLY able to fit into all of them, including the smallest ones. Some are so out of my current taste that I don’t want them anymore, but it’s sooo nice to be in a body that can fit in them! For the majority, I do still like them. The only downside is my butt and thighs are not muscular enough to fill out a lot of the pants I used to fill out just fine. Time to beef up this butt I guess 🥲

Performative AI solutions tied to job/org success metrics

I’m struggling with the push in my org to produce ANY AI solution for things. The unsaid part is make it even if it has low utility or even if your job naturally does not have many opportunities to make an AI solution.

The point is to show you are using it and making “widely” usable solutions where the AI is the main feature (not just when AI helps you code an automation).

My boss is the type where if a leader says to jump, he jumps, he won’t even ask how high. In my last company, we were encouraged to say ‘ok I hear you but what do you expect the jump to accomplish and perhaps I can help from there?’ Our brainpower and time was treated like it was expensive and you had to consider the true utility of the thing you were being asked for.

I just feel like I’m hearing the most brain dead directions of my career. And I have to follow them or else I am going to be called out or disciplined in some way (unclear rn). We avoided layoff so far this year but I won’t be surprised if this becomes the main deciding factor for team or individual layoff.

Is anyone else in a similar boat? What are you doing about it?

Orange barrel accent chair

From Living Spaces. Vacuumed and lint rolled. Chair was used lightly for a few years and had a blanket almost always on it. Has some fading/graying on the arms (looks worse from the shadow).

I live close to SCC. I prefer Sunday today pickup or evenings on weeknights. Respond below and I’ll DM.
