Tell me all about the NuvaRing!!!

Hi guys! I was previously on the pill but just switched to the NuvaRing. I’ve seen that some people have problems with the one-size fits all part of the ring, with it being too big for their uterus. It cringes me to say this… but I am petite, I don’t know if that determines uterus size, but that is a concern for me. Also, one of my biggest fears is getting an ectopic pregnancy and losing a fallopian tube. I know IUDs increase that risk, but I couldn’t find a clear answer on it for vaginal rings.

Anyways, please tell me everything I need to know, the good and the bad! I still have a week to change my mind and go back to the pill.

Also I tried to ask my doctor some of these questions, but she either gave very vague answers or didn’t answer at all. I told her my sister had a good experience with the NuvaRing, which I think is why she was so dismissive…

As a recent highschool grad, what are some important steps for me to take to have the best chance at getting into PA school?

Hi guys! I graduated high school this past May and will be attending UT Austin in spring 2027. I’ve just began to sit down and look at things I can do to give myself the best chance at getting into PA school… and to say the least, I am overwhelmed. I will be studying Kinesiology at UT. I am also planning on getting a CCMA certification during this gap semester so that I can start my PCE hours ASAP. I’ve already found some health organizations I plan on joining when I get to UT. The dream would be to attend the PA school at UT San Antonio. Anyways, I was just hoping I could get some advice on other things I can do to boost my chances.

Also, if anyone has some CCMA programs (preferably on the affordable side) they recommend in the Austin area, please send them my way!

I’d also like to add that I hope to be specialized in cardiology or cardio thoracic surgery…

Should I even try for a Nursing major at UT Austin?

Hi guys! I just posted but took it down because I realized I left out some key details… I am applying to be a spring 2027 freshman and currently have my first choice major as Kinesiology. However, I’m now wondering if I should risk it and try for a nursing major. I’m hoping to be a PA or NP, just not sure which one yet. I was 15/555 in my class (top 3%), 103.119 GPA, 1240 SAT (640 Reading, 600 Math), and my essays and letters of recommendation are very strong. Now here are my problems… I read that some interning looked good for a Nursing major application, I do not have any of that as I was involved in multiple varsity sports + working 25 hrs per week. Additionally, I connected all of my essays to Kinesiology, as I didn’t even think of trying for Nursing previously. Lastly, my SAT is not very competitive, however I did read that my high GPA MIGHT compensate for that. Anyways, I just need someone to tell me if it’s even worth it to make my first choice major Nursing and second choice Kinesiology.
