What do you have it your garage/work shop?

Here is my 80’s Fisher Studio Standard CA-857, JVC TD-W201 through my Sharp 3 way speakers from my 90’s all in one system.

The Tuner doesn’t hold station memory anymore… oh well. Sounds good enough while working or grilling.

Honestly if I’m just getting into putting components together I’d use the amp and cassette deck. At low volumes it sounds good. The amp has RCA’s for phono, CD and video the other inputs are some proprietary connectors.

What would you do?

Picked up this reel to reel from an estate sale, yes awesome but that’s a small part of the story. While going through the reels about 5 of them labeled Christmas songs, worship songs thinking well these suck. One marked Jazz with the take up reel and one other marked Elton John on one side and the other Blues. I grab blues and jazz thinking well if it suck’s I’ll test the record feature.

I get everything home and spend hours cleaning the player and throw the Jazz album on and it’s pretty good. Baby Elephant Walk is on there so it’s fun stuff. I play Jazz to get to the take up reel so I can see what’s on blues.

Put on blues but it’s the Elton John side and it’s early deep cuts. Nothing you hear on the radio but nothing I care for. But I get through it and finally get to the blues side. Shazam identifies as Eric Clapton and Jimmy Page/Yardbirds. Hell yeah! This is going on to a TDK for enjoyment at work.

New to reel to reel.

I’ve been wanting to add a reel to reel to my system for a while and the opportunity finally presented. Found this at an estate sale for $75 and it works!

The speakers inside the case are interesting. Very fun watching reels spinning with music.

I have finally found a R2R at an affordable price!!!

Found this Akai 1721W for $73 at an estate sale. A little bit of something from the 70’s,80’s,90’s and today. A little cleaning and next off to the vintage music store to get some reel to try it out.
