Big Warcomp.app update: the Warcrow Companion app now has a community layer, a live Battle tab, and Tabletop Simulator (TTS) Sync

First off, a HUGE THANKS to everyone using Warcomp.app! The response from the community has been overwhelmingly positive since launch, and I'm genuinely humbled by it.

Since first version, Warcrow Companion has grown way beyond its original scope, and now working alongside my TTS mod (which now pulls content directly from Warcomp), both create environment for the community to share and try scenarios, feats, lists and terrain layouts.

Also a massive thank you to everyone who filled out the in-app survey - your feedback on what’s missing, what felt clunky, and what you wanted next directly shaped this update. Several of the features below came straight from your responses. I hope I delivered.

Community Layer

A whole new social "layer" to the app. You can now share, browse, and vote on your favorite community creations, including:

  • Army lists (complete with player guides)
  • Custom scenarios and feats
  • Tabletop Simulator (TTS) terrain layouts
  • soon to be added: Custom Cards editor

TTS

With the Community Layer launched, my Warcrow TTS mod will now live-fetch featured scenarios, feats, and terrain layout presets directly from the app onto your table.

The Battle tab

The Battle tab got real love this update. It scales to how much setup you want:

  • Bare minimum: pick two faction logos and jump straight into play.
  • Full setup: load your own list, import your opponent's, and track the whole game in the app.
  • Sync play: Fully synchronized game, almost live (my tech stack makes it a tiny bit less than ideal, but should feel near-instant)
    • Reveal your army lists to each other one unit at a time.
    • Joining/leaving characters follows the official Warcrow game rules perfectly - tokens transfer correctly, and persistent states (like wounds) are kept on join.

Dice calculator

This one is few weeks old now, but I never posted about it here. Dice tab got new calculator option, where you can set up attacker and defender roll and check your possible outcome with many variables, including switches!

Units can be imported to the calculator to quicky show you the odds, and the calculations are made with mixed methods: true averages for basic rolls + bidirectional Monte Carlo simulation (20 000 rolls to decide outcome).

There is even a reroll policy slider, for you to decide how would you reroll the dice.

Other updates

I also reverted how joined units are shown on the list to better reflect actual game mechanics, heavily improved the synchronization between devices, and added a brand-new onboarding tour to help new players learn the app. Plus, a bunch of minor squashed bugs!

Keep the feedback coming!

Next steps:

  • As mentioned above, very soon I'll be adding custom card creator (and this by proxy will allow me to add scenarios like The Tree Mother with custom cards)
  • I'll be trying to hit up Corvus Belli for support or cooperation, so the updates can be smoother between unit releases, so far I had no luck with the responses
  • ... finding mods for Warcomp to handle the community submissions 🫤

PS: Some of you have asked, so a clarification - no, the Warcrow Companion on the Google Play Store is NOT THE SAME as Warcomp 😄 Those are two totally separate entities created by two independent authors.

Mounthaven test model

I wanted to do something fairly quick because i have tendency to overcomplicate everything.

took me 4-5 hours. I'd call it a win

Warcrow TTS Mod - by Warcomp.app

https://preview.redd.it/ewzqr746qqfh1.png?width=1600&format=png&auto=webp&s=501d0cc88afe2fbefa2ffad53e981b7327ad9479

After polishing warcomp.app, I had the infrastructure I needed to build other stuff, and first one was one that i really wanted to do - a TTS mod that's heavily integrated Warcomp to reduce any downtime in play between unit releases with crucial features like b2b measurement, auto map setup, versatility.

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3772616859

If everything works:

  • New units will be instantly added with Warcomp updates.
  • All the cards will be up-to-date.
  • You can pull Warcomp list with list code directly onto your table.
  • Rules are reachable via the in-game tablet and a browser.
  • Scenarios and Feats layouts and rules are pulled from Warcomp and populated on map when picked.
  • Rules for picked scenario/feat are available in side panels of the scoreboard.
  • Mod disables normal measurement and adds BASE-TO-BASE measurement in IN STRIDES. + small gray measurement is shown when a piece is moved within its base area.
  • Turn tracker is simplified to click-to-advance (r-click to back up).
  • Because malware was found in previous mod, I added a malware scanner.
  • Lack of the table and "spotlight" setup will hopefully add to immersion a bit.
  • I shamelessly added a tablet to search the rules on Warcomp instead of checking out the PDF.
  • Command tokens counting in right hand side.
  • Cards snap to cards that have a secondary profile (no join restrictions, it'd be overcomplication).
  • Tokens dropped on the card are snapped in place to the right side of the card.
  • I added 300+ (thoroughly scanned) terrain pieces and some presets for each scenario to get you started.
  • Also i added option to save your layout to Warcomp (not yet visible in app) and load it with short code.

Testing would be appreciated, most notably:

  • Any lags?
  • Do terrain setups properly submit and load from Warcomp ?
  • Do you see opponent's cards in their hidden zone?
  • Do you see your opponent measuring? (& when you both move at the same time - does everything displays for both of you?)

Grit is gone after a day or two?

Hello! following the saying that there are no stupid questions, I'll ask one hoping it's not stupid ;D

I'm very new to rock tumbling, I bought my wife tumbler on her bday since she was picking up random stones from everywhere for years now. And we both sunk into tumbling after just few days.

I have a problem tho - most videos i see show tumbling for even week on low grit, but when we are loading the barrels to ~3/4 with rock and putting about 3 tablespoons of grit , it's usually gone after 2 days.

I feel absolutely nothing under my fingers, once i even let is sit for a while before checking to see if it's maybe mixed in.

So my question i guess is - is there a reason to tumble for a week if the grit is gone that quickly?

Tumbler i got is some medium range one (it's not popular in Poland, so it's hard to get one reasonably priced), I'm running it on lowest speed because it's pretty fast (I think 75rpm on 1st level).

I'm tumbling mostly random stones, jaspers, granite, diorite, etc (or at least i identified them as those with my app i made as part of the gift for my wife).

Thank you all in advance!
