Graduated at 39+3 fastest induction ever LOL

Hi friends! I’d been expecting to be induced last weekend at 39 weeks however my hospital was completely booked up and I didn’t end up hearing from them until Monday night. Went in at 8pm to start a dose of cervadil at 1-2cm dilated and instructed to come back the following morning at 10 am.

We got home just before midnight and I had already started to contract, my husband joked that we likely wouldn’t make it through the night LOL 😂 this is our second baby but I for sure thought we’d be going through it for longer.

The contractions started ramping up but weren’t long enough but they were painful enough that I couldn’t sleep through it. At 3:30 I heard a crack sound from inside me and I just knew it was my water. I waited and then on my next contraction it gushed out but luckily I’d been wearing a diaper in case. Then it was go time so we got to the hospital by 5, I was 6cm dilated. They admitted me and I got the epidural in at 6am. Within half an hour I was at 10 cm. I pushed for 9 minutes, just as she crowned my fricking epidural wore off and I felt every single agonizing push of her head coming out and then bam she slid right out lol.

Anyways! It was SUCH a fast night I couldn’t even get my thoughts together lol or have enough time to put on my own birthing gown. She was born at 7lb and 3oz, passed all her sugar tests perfectly and I had no external tears, just a minor internal tear but that’s it. It was a wild ride but I also passed all my glucose checks and my endo gave me the clear. Still wearing my CGM since I have a few days left and I’m just curious to see my numbers but all is well! Can’t wait to get rid of all the insulin. Good luck to everyone on their journey and sending positive vibes from the other side :)

Induction this weekend, experiencing prodromal labor and starting to panic

Will be getting induced this weekend due to GD at 39 weeks, trying and hoping to go into spontaneous labour before then but I’ve been experiencing Prodromal labour for about 2 weeks now and the cramping and inconsistent contractions are starting to wear me down and I’m worried how on earth I’ll freaking manage real active labor without the epidural. I really, really don’t want one, I want to be able to birth this baby (2nd pregnancy) on my own and I’ve been doing my own research and pain management methods however…. The premature/early labour cramps and contractions really have me starting to second guess myself.

Any tips? I’m hoping I can be at home for as long as possible, or utilize the hot shower but what if my brain goes into fight or flight and I start panicking and give up early? With my first, I managed to get to 8cm before receiving the epidural so I’m telling myself I just need to be in the zen zone and hold out for an extra 2 cm but then…. I still have to push and it’s freaking me out.

Night time insulin - consistent low readings overnight

Had my weekly appointment with the diabetes clinic today and they flagged the sudden decrease in my glucose levels throughout the night and sounded kinda concerned. This is in conjunction with several low glucose drops during the day. I’m on a slow acting night time insulin of 54 units and my fasting levels have been ranging from 3.9 mmol to 4.7 mmol

They mentioned that this could be an indicator that my placenta could be maturing (I’m 34+4) and I will def bring this up to my OB in my appointment next week but I was wondering if anyone else was experiencing something similar?

TLDR; on 54 units of night time insulin was working fine for fasting but now I’m having low overnights, lows during the day

Does anyone receive their EI Employment Insurance through Shakepay? When does it deposit?

I have shakepay set up for all my government deposits (gst, CCB) and I receive my deposits a day before at around 9:50 am. I recently started maternity leave and have my payments approved, my first payment says it’s been deposited for Aug 25 (tomorrow) but I haven’t received anything yet like my other government deposits.

Does anyone else receive EI through Shakepay? And if so, does it come a day early still? Thanks!!

Tips for managing the back labor/back pain during contractions?

This is my second pregnancy and I will likely be induced towards the end of 38 weeks due to GD - ideally I could go into labor spontaneously before then. With my first, the back pain is what truly felt debilitating and I opted for the epidural. This time around I want to go unmedicated and the only thing that is really really worrying me is how to combat the back pressure and pain. My husband thankfully is amazing at applying counter pressure but idk how long he can sustain that energy for.

Does anyone have any good tips for managing that kind of pain during contractions?

OB won’t let me go to 39 weeks :(

Located in Ontario, Canada.

I’m 33+5 and had an OB appointment this week. This is my second GD pregnancy so I knew to not be naive and expect that I would not be induced, so I asked my OB about it at my appointment to get an idea of the timeline.

I’m on bed time insulin (51 units) and am a home baker that has 2 wedding cake orders scheduled for exactly 38 weeks (lol I know…) so I expressed my need to be able to go past 38 weeks. I was induced at 38+3 with my daughter last time.

All through my appointments this time around she’s commented on how normal my pregnancy is, she’s happy with everything and isn’t concerned about me. I am having weekly NSTs due to GD but other than that she tells me at every appointment that I’m doing perfectly fine. So I said, given you’re not concerned about me and my sugars are under control, would I be able to go as far as I can without being induced?

And she said no, the insulin is what would push her to get me induced. She said she won’t let me go to 39, but I can try and schedule my induction towards the end of 38.

The downside is my birthday is literally within the suggested induction dates and I guess it sounds dumb but I did not want to potentially share my birthday with my new baby. Any advice on pushing back and trying to go maybe 39+2 for the induction? Obviously the baby’s health comes first and if I have to I will, but I do see a lot of people on here push back or refuse so just looking for some input. I was really hoping to go into spontaneous labor too, just anytime after 39 weeks lol.

What’s everyone’s first postpartum snack/meal going to be?

I’m feeling particularly snacky and daydreaming about all the foods I can’t wait to eat. What’s going to be your first meal/snack after birth?

Aside from a fancy sushi platter, I will only be accepting in laws at the hospital if they bring me a box of Krispy Kreme donuts. LOL.

What the %#*! Do you guys eat for breakfast without spiking?

I’m already on nighttime insulin for my fasting numbers, but lately every single fucking breakfast spikes me and I’m so goddamn tired of it and I do NOT want to go on mealtime insulin too but I’m just frustrated. So frustrated.

The only thing that doesn’t spike me is if I eat eggs just by itself. I cannot introduce ANY carbs or it spikes me. One slice of bread? Fucked. 8.0 mmol. Eggs and a side of beans? 9.0 mmol. Eggs and fruit? Absolutely not. I just don’t know what else I can pair it with. This morning I had a bowl of chia seed pudding and I’m sitting at a 7.8 mmol 1 hour after.

I’m so tired of eggs I want to die every time I have to make them in the morning lol. What works I guess has been a fair life shake along with my eggs to help keep me full but it’s not as nice as having something yummy and carby.

SOS. I’m losing my marbles and I have 12 weeks more of this to endure.

Is my CGM malfunctioning or is something going on?

It’s been like this since yesterday morning. All day yesterday and today my CGM has been hovering in the red - I’m doing finger pokes and when CGM says 2.9, my finger poke read 4. Throughout the day my finger pokes are higher by about 1.0 but it’s still pretty lower than normal for me which is concerning since I take night time insulin (14 units).

Admittedly I’m not eating well, I am just *not* hungry at all and my belly feels so big that I can’t really eat without feeling uncomfortable anyways. My educator said to just eat more but that’s incredibly hard when I can’t eat normally to begin with. And now it seems like it’s causing constant lows. Should I just remove the sensor and try a new one?? This is my third one in this cycle because the last 2 had reading errors.

I’ve been feeling lethargic and suffering constant headaches for the last few days. Trying to stay hydrated and whatnot but I’m not sure if there’s something else going on.

Anyone going to veld while pregnant?

I’ll be 31 weeks by Veld weekend and it’s a hard no from my husband to let me attend. Fair enough since I can barely stand for a couple hours without swollen ankles plus last year was a literal sandstorm in my lungs lol. I’m just sad and having FOMO that I won’t be attending.

Anyone else going that’s pregnant? What are you wearing? I’ve always seen those bedazzled bellies and super cute outfits in past years. I’ll just be watching from my couch :(

Gestational Diabetes and NSTs [ON]

When did you start getting NSTs done during pregnancy if you had GD? I’m trying to recall from my last pregnancy and I’m not sure I can remember, but this time around I’ve been diagnosed since week 18 and I’m trying to gauge for work calendar purposes roughly how soon after a GD diagnosis we start going in for NSTs. Does anyone have any information? I see my OB on Thursday but I’m impatient lol.

Failed the 2 hour test but won’t see my OB for another month

This is my second pregnancy so I’ve been testing my fasting sugar levels on and off up until the test because I was pretty paranoid about having GD again. Well I did the 2 hour and both fasting and 1 hr were high by 1.0 which is probably a no-brainer GD diagnosis from my doctor.

The only thing is that I haven’t heard a thing back. I got my results the next morning, I even reached out to the office and asked them about it but they said they’ll just go over the results at my next appointment which isn’t until the second week of June. It feels like a bit far away to live with the knowledge of a possible diagnosis lol. In the meantime I’m still recording my glucose levels and have started eating cleaner but idk. Feels weird. Is that normal? I would have thought they’d get back to me right away.
