Hello, I am a Gm midlane player that made the cutoff for challenger early season a few times :3. I also discussed this phenomenon with my irl friend that is challenger midlaner (currently decaying out of chall since he has a job now lmao) and he agreed. And here are my conclusions.

Midlane micro and laning is very low quality in masters. I would like to demystify it, since a lot of people think masters is peak human performance. It is the case that the hidden bag that these masters midlaners have are usually the right decisions they make that win sloppy Diamond games. its the fact that in the game of league of legends, they are good players and even more obviously so since they inhabit the top 1%. The macro is definitely the crown difference between Diamond and Emerald simply put. The laners know where to be, when to be at objectives (hint: not to be toplane 15 seconds before soul point w/o tp). But its to the degree that lane quality (in midlane) feels like I'm back in Emerald. When I get matched up against low-mid masters midlaners (riot games special) I sometimes check to see if my opponents were filled, they usually aren't. Off main? usually no, and I end up beating them with a character that typically doesn't win lane.

Now this is NOT a smear campaign against masters midlaners, but quite the contrary: if you are beating your Emerald/Diamond players in lane, just be better at macro and you can probably push masters or higher.

Edit: The problem isn't that I win lane against masters players, its that like bell curve with two peaks, one around mid diamond, and another around challenger. better mechanics are typically found in diamond than masters, and extremely good mechanics are found closer to challenger. There seems to be a vacuum in the low-mid Masters range that I've noticed. Visual:

Hello, I was masters player last season and I have returned home from university and left my set up. So I am at home with a laptop that struggles to run Chrome and Word at the same time. I just wanted to see a way that when I return back to school in August (roughly 3 months left) that I either retain my skill or improve by a margin to push GM this season.

My primary role is midlane and I play Kassadin and Leblanc. Since it is that case that most of the time, its not mechanics that win games but ideas and correct macro, where could I improve without playing the game in actuality?
