I was diamond support role queue before the rank reset, but I wasn’t expecting to finish my placement matches right back where I ended last season. The games felt much more consistent skill-wise across the two teams for pretty much all of plat/emerald, so I suppose the new rank did its job of making matches less swingy.
Anyone else have a similar experience?

My favorite deck to tinker with for a while has been my bracket 3 [[Alania, Divergent Storm]] deck. The strategy that I’ve found the most success in is stacking copy effects from Alania with [[Twinning Staff]], [[Veyran, Voice of Duality]] and [[Thousand Year Storm]] and then finishing with card effects like [[Molten Psyche]], [[Cerebral Vortex]] or [[Runeflare Trap]].
However, I’ve found that like most decks that rely on their commander for too much, if Alania gets removed before I get to do The Thing then that’s 7 mana I’ve gotta drop to recast her. I’ve got a few cheap counterspells to help protect my game plan, but I’m mostly banking on people ignoring the cute otter that gives them free cards until it’s too late. Which works great for one game, not so much for the games directly afterwards lol.
I know that there are better, less expensive commanders (5 mana hurts sometimes…) that fit the same theme, but none of them quite scratch the itch like Alania does. If anyone has any upgrades they’d recommend, I’m all ears! especially if there’s anything that could add a bit of spell-copying redundancy, or help me protect my key pieces a bit more.
