Should I file an insurance claim? Cast iron drain pipe has at least 9-10 ft long hole running down the bottom of it’.

Hoping it was my dishwasher. It wasn’t. It was the cast iron drain pipe leaking. There was standing water under the slab upon opening up.

Plumbers are trying to take it easy on me but it’s going to get expensive.

I’m fine if they don’t cover the pipe but maybe flooring and mold.

Cast iron drain pipe has a 1in or so hole running down the bottom. At least 10 ft long. What should I do?

Plumber thought it’d be something easy and had to keep cutting open floor and has yet to find the hole. They say it’s at least 10 ft long. I’ve felt the hole myself and it’s big.

Can I file through home owners? Should I? This is getting very costly. Even they hate having to continue on because they think it’s pretty bad.

Noticed it two days ago. Pictures don’t do it justice but it’s noticeable when you walk over the area. Damage starts about a foot from the door. It’s starting to go leftwards.

Been in the house three years but rarely started using the dishwasher up until the last year. However, when we do run it, it tends to be over night. Never noticed water puddle on surface.

What do you guys think might be the issue?

I took the toe kick off and running my usual cycle with paper towels under inlet valve.
