Just watched "I am Legend" with my oldest son. We feel...confused and conflicted

Obviously, SPOILERS

My son's 16, niether of us could sleep so we decided to watch "I am Legend." Shockingly I've never seen this film. But we love apocalyptic shows and films so we decided to atleast try to watch this film.

Wow, the first two act were brilliant! Both of us truly were so interested about the story. The acting was brilliant. And the themes of the first two acts were really good. Both my son and I got jump scared multiple times, and some of the scenes stressed me out! We both teared up during Sam's death scene.

But that last act was...confusing and I feel conflicted about the last act. The tone shift was very evident, the characters they introduced...I didn't know the characters well enough to feel emotional when the protagonist sacrificed himself for them.

As we watched the film we heavily assumed that we would really enjoy the whole film as the first two acts were so strong. The last act has made us reconsider our whole view point of the film in general.

Overall rating:

My rating of the film - 7/10 - The first two acts were too good to let this film have any rating below 7.

My son's rating of the film - 5/10 - The ending ruined the whole film in his opinion

Book suggestions for a 14 year old who loves the genres sci-fi and fantasy?

My son's 14 and he is a huge reader. Like, this kid will spend all day reading if he could. Which is awesome. But he is also a fast reader, he reads about 3 books a week right now because it is the summer holidays. I've noticed that recently he has wanted to read some new books, and whilst we do have a library nearby that we love...he does struggle a bit in public space and tends to not be able to think clearly when picking out books at the library. So I want to buy him some new books.

His favourite genres are sci-fi and fantasy. My sons considered an advanced reader so I'm not worried about books being too challenging for him to read. But he's also not opposed to reading some more non-fiction books!

Anybody else love the chaos?

My kids are 16, 15, 14 and 7, the house is just constantly chaotic. One of my kids always has a friend over. Or there is always something exciting happening in somebody's life. The older 3 kids act like "triplets" most of the time, they argue all the time but they truly are like best friend. And they loved their younger sister so much, even though she annoys them daily.

But overall I love seeing the sibling dynamic between my kids. This morning I woke up and found all 4 of them in the garage trying to teach the 7 year old how to skateboard.

I wouldn't trade this chaotic life for anything.
