AirTag from my stolen motorcycle pinged after almost 2 years – what could this mean?
My stolen motorcycle disappeared almost 2 years ago.
I had an AirTag hidden on it, but it stopped updating almost immediately after the theft. I always assumed the thieves found it, removed the battery, and threw it away.
Today I checked Find My and noticed something strange. About a week ago, the AirTag suddenly appeared at what seems to be a Mercedes repair/body shop. Then it went silent again.
I’m almost certain an AirTag battery wouldn’t last two years without any updates, which makes me wonder if someone replaced the battery. On the other hand, maybe the AirTag was somehow stuck inside the bike all this time and was only discovered when the vehicle was dismantled.
Has anyone experienced something similar? Is it worth contacting the police with this new location, or is it likely a dead end after all this time?
