Ticket sale day recap + The Tour from now
Alright, so yesterday was General Sale Day for the Hard Launch Tour, and it was absolutely insane over here:
- There were 924 total comments on our ticket sale day thread
- We had a crazy spike of about 140k visits, of which 20k were unique (compare that to the nearly 400k visits we had on the day of the actual hard launch !)
- 1.3k people joined the subreddit yesterday. Welcome!
- 85 people left the subreddit yesterday. Goodbye :’(
- According to the mod log, our two active mods took a combined total of 1300 actions
- 57 people tried to buy or sell tickets, which is ~not allowed~
- Our two active mods answered a combined total of 114 questions
- (just for clarification: we are not affiliated with Dan and Phil, but just the act of setting up the FAQ and all the individual date threads, combined with having been to tours myself, means that we just tried to answer any question we saw that we thought we had an answer to!! It's nice to be able to help people out.)
- Hopefully, at least one person was stopped from buying a platinum ticket, thinking those are anything more than just a good seat that ticketmaster charges a premium for, while not providing any of the added benefits of the gold/silver VIP tickets.
Thanks to anyone who interacted here and was kind and considerate !! If you got tickets, congrats, and we hope you have an excellent time!
The Tour From Now
This was likely the craziest and most active day of the tour, but we will still be here for you to discuss it!
- You can use the Mission Control thread to find the post for your individual tour stop, where you can try to meet some friends to go with if you like!
- We still have an FAQ thread with frequently asked questions, which we’ll keep updating.
- When the first tour date is approaching, we’ll put up a dedicated spoiler thread for people to discuss tour spoilers and for those who don't wish to see them to avoid them. This was a suggestion during the previous tour, so thanks for that!
- We will redirect most people with actual logistical questions to the FAQ thread, but we likely won’t just redirect anyone with any tour post to the megathread.
- It’s a little difficult to find a happy balance for this; allowing anyone to post anything may make it so that people will get r/danandphil posts on their timeline that aren’t necessarily relevant to them, which is why megathreads are great for allowing people to seek out a specific type of discussion. Unfortunately, they can be unintuitive and hard to find, which sometimes means that redirecting to a megathread kind of kills the discussion, which we also don't want to do. We’ll keep an eye on this as the tour develops !!
Reminder that we do not allow ticket selling or buying, even if you accidentally bought more tickets than you need. If you bought from Ticketmaster or another valid platform, you will likely be able to list them for resale on there in a few weeks.
We can’t properly vet everyone wanting to buy or sell tickets, which means we can’t guarantee that people won’t get scammed, and that their personal information will be safe - we have already had a few posts from people getting scammed on twitter. So, for the safety of everyone involved, we just cannot allow ticket transactions.
