OSU! (My shitpost is OSU on repeat)

For context: I made a post about what upgrade to give Chrollo's Skill Hunter, and there's this guy who is definitely a Tsundere, idk the name shouldn't tell me that otherwise. And not only was the answer out of touch to the series. Like an AI upgrade to Skill Hunter, Chrollo's a genius I get that but he isn't a known tech bro, otherwise he'll be rocking the white shirt and have his own Island of Greed.

The audacity of calling me cringe for comically saying OSU on my posts, when the other party has a Chrollo profile pic, and bro is called Tsundere on repeat.

Anyways I'm staying comically cringe because I do it for the love of the game 😂 we are NOT the same.

OSU! OSU! OSU! (Get Ratioed by my OSU!)

My Hatsu is being Wing's student. If Netero has his prayers, I have OSU! chants as my day 1 ride or die nen ability. The chants are simply but it gives me my needed does of OSU! at the end of my posts dopamine hit, it's the signature of my existence. And citing a martial art chant is apparently cringe these days, Anyways, I got that out of my system.

(I might die if I don't end the posts with OSU! You must understand it's called playing a character, a role play if you will, don't like it? that's not my problem)

What upgrade on Skill Hunter would you give Chrollo?

To compliment the book theme, I'll give Chrollo an index card where anyone can write on it to be able to borrow a page and use the ability, but with the added condition of also giving this nen user a bookmark. I didn't really put much more thought on it than this.

But what type of upgrade would you give Chrollo's Skill Hunter?

Let me know, your thoughts. OSU!

Is the Death Note possible as a nen ability? (For the none living only, or shinigami)

I was thinking of Chrollo's skill hunter then it came to me, is there a possibility for a death note as a nen ability?

My own assumption is as long as the ability is limited to only manipulating lifespan and not the reality of how a person can die, it might be possible.

What are the best steps to take when designing a death note as a nen ability?

An obvious condition/limitation that I can think of is that only the dead can have a death related nen ability such as lifespan manipulation.

A separate question I do have is, can a hypothetical shinigami take a physical form to hunt someone? And let's say instead of a Final Destination Death entity orchestrating deaths, it's more akin to an actual butcher but this metaphysical entity just enjoys the chase and when it corners it's prey, it simply brings out a notebook and let's the target sign it with their name.

Anyways I'm more curious about the thought process more than the answer this time around. As I assume not everyone will agree that a death note to be possible as a nen ability.

I'm curious if there are horror writers here for this one.

In Theory what would a nen user' hatsu reflect in the water divination that has made 2 separate abilities (Kastro)

Title.

  1. What would Kastro's water divination look like? We know that he neglected his fundamentals to create a clone ability for 2 ish years.

  2. Would there be a drastic difference to the Enhancer's increasing the water molecules? Or would it reflect something similar to a Conjurer's?

This is my current dilemma as we weren't shown Kastro's water divination and that's the only way we can see what this ill advised route in developing a nen ability would reflect with water divination.

Glass Trick (RWBY Neopolitan inspired ability)

Repost but with better formating (sort of). Shorter version so it won't be too much for a post, I've already made a separate work in progress post that covers the ideas behind the ability.

I included a Neo doodle I recently struggled to draw in Clip Studio Paint, it's made with love and soul, that's what matters.

Transmuter ability that transmutes paper and sand with friction/abrasion to produce heat and enhancement to increase the temperature to create glass.

Conjuration rules that doesn't let the user take damage from the heat, and redistributes the heat to the umbrella.

That's the gist of it.

This is a RWBY Neopolitan inspired ability.

This user loves to use an umbrella and that's why it's drawn in the shape of one for the illustration of the ability. She's basically Neopolitan ice cream (strawberry, vanilla and chocolate as colors). For those who might be asking for the sand and as to why go into the trouble of making it color pink, it's a style choice for the character, and to keep it close to RWBY's dust.

Glass Trick (WIP)

Transmuter ability that transmutes paper and sand with friction/abrasion to produce heat and enhancement to increase the temperature to create glass.

Conjuration rules that doesn't let the user take damage from the heat, and redistributes it to the umbrella.

That's the gist of it.

This is a RWBY Neopolitan inspired ability.

This user loves to use an umbrella and that's why it's drawn in the shape of one for the illustration of the ability. (I copy pasted Neo, I don't have the skills to recreate her beauty yet) She's basically Mary Poppins but in pink, white and brown, basically she's Neopolitan ice cream. For those who might be asking for the sand and as to why go into the trouble of making it color pink, it's a style choice for the character, and to keep it close to RWBY's dust.

Soft conditions but becomes better overtime.

The ability always starts with only one hand. As a beginner and as an expert it always starts with 1 hand.

The umbrella is important to channel the glass into a medium, making it stronger and allows for much more efficient conjuration while using the umbrella.

Training Stuff:

Her Hatsu starts with transmuting paper first

For the paper training that's the easiest part, and she starts out with this. She starts folding paper cranes, boats, umbrella cut outs, and the glass like shapes and imagery. The real use of paper is to enable her to imagine cutting efficiently, and to shape aura in a way that bends like a paper fold.

To transmute sand it's a mix of enhancement training of crushing rocks and conjuration visualization of tiny pieces of rocks/sand, but the enhancement training is modified to cut it with the paper like cuts, instead of rocks crushing rocks it's a much harsher, paper breaking rocks training. Instead of crushing 1000 rocks, she has to cut 1 rock into 1000 pieces, maybe she starts in a less exaggerated number as a beginner but the thought and process is what matters.

For friction and abrasion that's where the umbrella becomes useful, with rules for the umbrella to absorb and withstand the heat it will prevent the user from suffering from damage or from hyperthermia.

The umbrella also counts as a spin visualiser that helps the user picture out their aura to spin. Simply put the paper acts as a base, the sand counts as both dust for the lore and the friction property and when paper and sand collide they create abrasion that produces heat.

After writing all this her aura feels like a science project, but I had fun putting this together for a beloved character.

Refresher for the Glass Transmutation:

Paper + Sand formed together creates friction/abrasion which produces heat that heat is enhanced to produce extremely high temperatures that produces Glass. (I'm an idiot I realized late that paper is combustible which makes perfect sense, as I needed this whole thing to heat up so we can make glass)

Paper + Enhancement:

She becomes light as paper, but not exactly weightless, she becomes faster but not completely weak. Picture her weight dropping by at least 40% or 60%.

Glass Trick + Conjuration:

Let's the user create real glass as long as the umbrella is held by the user. This glass is used to create mirror images and simple illusions (requires deep impersonating if recreating the face of a real person).

Requires the user to have glass prepared via transmutation to use this ability.

Glass Trick + Sand + Enhancement:

Basically adding sand to let the targets slip and miss their mark, enhancement can be used to make the glass harder than it looks.

Short creativity discussion:

How to make use of the paper and sand transmutation.

Besides friction, this let's the user throw strikes with the umbrella that will surprise the enemies with deceptively sharp paper like edges and sand to disrupt aura flow after it scatters upon impact.

With all the complexity added, won't it be better to just transmute glass in the 1st place? That is true but I made this ability and it's process as the prerequisite for the eventual glass transmutation. As you do need sand, refined into tinier fragments and heat to visualize glass, I'm not necessarily a science person, all I know is that I learnt this fun fact in Minecraft and all I need is sand, a furnace, and coal.

The paper transmutation is also used as an agility and reduced weight modifier for the user. She's deceptively fast for unprepared individuals.

The heat used isn't just for creating the Glass Trick, it also serves as a small additive with enhancement and conjuration, the umbrella can apply more concentrated blunt force while losing the paper's sharp edges but it produces more force as a result.

In terms of balance. Will water stop this user? She has an umbrella, if the enemy has waves of water to manipulate I call BS, anyways, she enters creative and desperation mode, she comically builds her Glass steps to jump on via transmutation + emission, paper transmutation to be lighter and skips conjuration for the Glass to step on just to escape in the air erratically.

Other than that I think she'll just be screwed though if she can't escape. As getting wet hard counters her abilities. And that's how the Glass is such a rewarding ability given that she doesn't get drowned in water.

I intend her to be still similar to the source material, agile, deceptive, does her job then dips, illusions made of glass to help her avoid contact.

Deviant Wings

The wings are hidden with IN. The user has excellent proficiency with the technique, backed by a condition of constantly hiding desires or keeping wants to the side or at a minimum and by extension themselves.

The user is capable of flight, fighting with invisible wings via IN, and the wings are capable of interacting with targets with hostility or as percieved by the user as a threat.

The user's wings are able to pass through non hostile people and non hostile nen. The wings can also actively phase through objects, preventing them from being revealed.

Unique Rules:

The wings are meant to be up at all times, as if part of the user's body and TEN.

This allows for the user to have another related rule.

The rule of resisting coercive and soliciting manipulation. The user enhances the wings and themselves to detect these behavioral patterns on people likely to be Manipulators. As for how the wings can somehow help the user resist manipulation, it acts as an absorbent type of nen or power that redirects manipulation on the user into the wings and then providing resistance against powerful users of Manipulation. If the Manipulator isn't powerful, the user aquires information on the Manipulators nen ability, and if the user fails and gets manipulated the wings are revealed as a consequence.

I thought of an idea about wings but this is inspired by the thread about phasing and I've decided to make wings specialized with IN at all times and give it a conditional ability to phase. I added the resistance and sensitivity to manipulation as a bonus, so the ability has it's own identity outside hidden wings.

I've learnt a lot about nen in the past week, but still not confident if this ability is good enough or too strong.

Ideally this is an ability for a Conjurer with Specialist lean, or a Pure Conjurer with layers of distrust against control freaks.

I drew the picture in Clip Studio Paint, it's sloppy but it's my sloppy finger drawn digital art.

Questions about Netero's Guanyin Bodhisattva

  1. How much Nen is split between Netero and Guanyin?

I'm asking as I can't find anything on this, which makes replicating the concept of a stand or an extension of the body, difficult to conceptualize in full.

Like, for example if the narrator had GYO and described the Guanyin in great detail, what will the split be like?

  1. What makes the ability so powerful?

I do think everyone will have different answers here. Some might praise the difficulty to reach this peak or ultimate form of power. Some will praise the dedication to reach it without any upfront costs, only time, and using the time to pray and throw fists of gratitude, which is one hell of a way to show gratitude to his God. I can also see the mix answers coming from the technicalities of the ability, like, the conditions and restrictions that makes it a challenge for the user and how not anyone else can just copy it as a technique. Anyone can pray, but no one can be exactly like Netero.

  1. In theory what exactly does Netero Enhance?

(Any type of answer will be appreciated here, I just want inspiration to write my own Hatsu.)

I recently stumbled upon the Nen Lean Chart. And Netero as a Pure Enhancer intrigues me. With his prayers what exactly does he Enhance?

The Guanyin to me, with it's gold design is reminiscent of a concentrated nen into a single point, with the gold and yellow color in it's design, this leads me to believe Guanyin is a Enhanced Nen that transcends normal nen logic, and as Netero pours his heart into each prayer so does his nen, the nen takes form into Guanyin aiding Netero and extending normal strikes as extensions of himself. Whether or not the Guanyin is transmuted or conjured, my own headcanon for it is that it doesn't detach from Netero's body but a simple strike looks like an extended arm and can look like emission, but to me if the Guanyin is that large it doesn't seem to be emission, it's just that massive and oppressive. The only ability I believe to be emission is Zero Hand, as that looks like the Guanyin separates completely from Netero.

Anyways, that's it for me.

My own Transmuter Headcanon/Theory (Let's talk about it)

Transmuters as Mis-categorized Specialists.

I have a headcanon or theory that Transmuters are the most likely nen affinity to be mis-categorized Specialists.

Transmuters sit between conflicting concepts such as the Straightforwardness & Instinct Archetype and the Cautious and Logical/Rational Archetype. And the Transmuter can utilize both concepts by being the Whimsical & Trickster/Magician Archetype.

An archetype whose balance of Instinct, Intuition and Logic are seen to be nearly personalized and distinct. The training required for the element or quality of choice requires either torture (lots of exposure or pain) or a very difficult childhood or upbringing.

In my own headcanon depending on the upbringing of the Transmuter, the very trauma or background prevents them from Manipulating this very element or quality and instead actualizes it as their own expression (Hatsu). This is why we get Killua making his own electricity/lightning instead of just using electric currents to bend it for his own use (the torture in context internalizes this experience and is something they can't control). Or Hisoka using Bungee Gum and bending it to his will. Otherwise I can see either character becoming either a Specialist or near Specialist nen category depending on how they view their trauma or upbringing. Killua to me can easily be a Manipulator due to his protective nature and familial love for his sibling Alluka but when Killua made his Hatsu he was still under Illumi's needle, he had no reason to develop a hatsu that will be against his textbook category and from his own knowledge and training, this prevents him from ever exploring it, as it's ill adviced in the 1st place. And Hisoka is well Hisoka and is the perfect textbook Transmuter but to me he can also be a Specialist due to how nasty his personality is. A cult of psychotic fighters isn't far fetched when we already have the phantom troupe. I can kinda see Hisoka being the new head depending on how his story with the troupe goes.

I know that I'm kinda generalizing the Nen Categories shown instead of their Philosophical purposes. But still let me know your thoughts on this topic. Do you agree? Disagree? Or does the very thought of it upsets you for some reason.

And yeah I made this on a whim. I just looked up the right image to post this after seeing replies to a previous post I've made, as I found a particular idea or topic interesting.

Questions about Izunavi's explanation (ch 83)

I'm basing this of with the image's translation, any corrections/clarifications on it will be appreciated.

  1. When Izunavi says acquire Specialization was he pertaining to a talent that is available to a bloodline of Specialists, or Conjurers, or Manipulators?

  2. Can members of the Kurta that are not a Conjurer/Manipulator/Specialist when their eyes turn Scarlet, also aquire this talent/bloodline trait of temporarily becoming a Specialist? And as a follow up, when Kurapika does enter his Scarlet Eyes, it's when he makes his pledge of suicide if he ever breaks his pledge. Is this development more important for combining the bloodline trait and nen into becoming a Specialist?

  3. If a Kurta member is born a Specialist will this person be born with Scarlet Eyes? And they'll have to do the opposite of the other members, they got to figure out how to turn off their Scarlet Eyes. Or if they are still born with brown eyes, once their eyes turn Scarlet what type of power does the Kurta member manifest? Unless of course these Specialist born Kurta members once they activate their Scarlet Eyes it becomes permanent.

  4. Not really a hunter hunter question but for making an OC, what bloodline trait is best associated with this transformation to Specialist? Besides the combination of emotions and the change of eye color, of course, unless that's the only depiction that's available in lore.

Anyways, that's it for me today.

Questions about Razor's Dodgeball Spike ability

Preface. (I shouldn't be writing this but just to be safe)

I'm a Transmuter, I'm always confused when it comes to Manipulation and to some extent Emission. Please bare with my questions, I'm here to learn about Nen, since I barely understand Manipulation nor Emission.

End of Preface.

So I'm guessing that Razor either has to touch a dodgeball then Emit his aura to the ball (possible to incorporate manipulation or enhancement) or shape his emitted aura into a ball (emission+transmutation). This is from the 2nd pic and any instance during the Dodgeball game at Greed Island.

My question lies into if Razor Conjured a Dodgeball or a simple ball, during the 1st picture, which doesn't seem that complex if he has been playing Dodgeball since his stay in Greed Island.

  1. What rules will make it a decent boost to his already loaded set of skills? (For the Conjured Dodgeball coated with emission aura with possibilities for manipulation such as changing directions)

My take with Razor's existing emission of a ball then tossing it into the air then spiking is that, as a standalone emission ability without conjuration he has to be able to hit just as hard to send the emitted ball of aura flying where he wants it to go without losing power on the spike, so looking back if the emitted aura also formed a conjured ball then he is able to have contact with the ball with a set of rules to allow it to be tossed and then spiked.

Separate question, and in general for Razor's emission/transmutation or manipulation for the dodgeball throw or spikes

  1. If Razor misses with his existing dodgeball throw (emission ability) does he ever suffer from a penalty? Outside of losing possession in a game of dodgeball, in combat should this user suffer a penalty? Besides being wide open after a miss, should this user be further penalized?

  2. The Emission ball when spiked needs to spin. An emitted aura shaped like a ball, can it by itself spin? This is why I think the 1st pic had to have been a Conjuration of the ball. Otherwise making the emitted ball spin after contact and with applied force might be manipulation, but conceptually as a Transmuter myself I find the concept to be difficult to picture out. Like, how do you make your emitted aura behave like a real object?

And this is why I'm asking to learn if my ideas makes sense or if I'm just struggling to learn Emission and Manipulation.

Anyways I saw a Razor pic from the 1st picture and it got me thinking, I need to rewatch the scene and I'm kinda in the impression that Razor had at least a lvl 4 or any basic Conjuration skill proficiency to create a simple ball or a dodgeball. Then using his ability to make it a powerful Emission ability + incorporations of Manipulation/Enhancement.

Please do teach me where I got things wrong, any corrections are appreciated.

How does Bungee Gum work?

So to preface, I have questions about bungee gum, mixed with my own interpretation of the ability, some ideas that I have if I were to create my own version of it. I only know information up until the Chrollo vs Hisoka fight in Heaven's Arena.

My curiosity lies with how Hisoka doesn't look like he ever gets tired or fatigued when using his ability. So I have this assumption, bungee gum isn't emitted rather it simply stretches, and that the sticky property let's the aura stay solid and unified in it's own way while remaining elastic. Hence this leads me to believe that the ability stays connected to Hisoka even if normally it takes a lot of concentration to focus aura into a single point and then aiming at the target by pointing at them and firing the ability like a projectile, or using contact to directly apply it.

So my questions are:

  1. If I were to recreate bungee gum without leveling it up/making my own nen stronger via killing my desired targets in a fair fight after they've gotten stronger, and letting them know about bungee gum. What conditions would be needed to make bungee gum strong enough to be used against a stronger opponent? The situation would be, If I were to face off Knuckle with Gon's current level during their fight for the selection of fighters to join the CA raid.

  2. Can Bungee Gum be enhanced? Or simply the aura on it's own has to be driven by the user's own willpower to be just as formidable as Hisoka's?

  3. If my own Bungee Gum is to be conjured, will I need manipulation and rules to make it less stressful to manage? Or will it need to be constantly be used with IN so it becomes a confusing ability to decipher.

Separate from my own question but my own interpretation of Hisoka's ability. As a conjured version of the ability, bungee gum can have both the properties of rubber and gum via transmutation, and at the same time it can be applied as a rule based nen construct that functions the same way. The rules being, if I announce how Bungee Gum works, I am allowed to use it as a conjuration nen construct, while using texture surprise to fake it as transmuted aura, and if I'm able to hit the target with this conjured version of the bungee gum ability it becomes harder to remove with nen or by physical means (enhancement). And the trickiest condition is that the target has to believe that bungee gum is a transmuter ability, "the properties of both rubber and gum" is both iconic, explicitly stated and feels like a trick inside of a trick. And the trick is that it has 2 versions, the transmuted version and the conjured version. You won't be able to tell them apart as the conditions will be met and the user looks like they're only using the same ability but at a much more potent and stronger effect when Bungee Gum is announced and the conjured version is used and applied to the target. And you probably won't have time to think on your feet, when the psychotic killer pulls you close, or asks a question to distract you.

I guess I'm only asking the 3 questions as a means to either confirm my interpretation of the ability or to start over from scratch.

Anyways, let me know if I'm on the right track or if I need to learn more about transmutation and by extension conjuration. Hisoka has been a tricky prospect to study and learn from, so I think his own abilities has some form of misdirection. Hisoka having texture surprise feels more of a threat than bungee gum by itself as it multiplies his own creativity and forms of deception while in combat or as an artist in his own twisted way.

I plan to make my own ability to be centered around paper as a Transmuter, so Hisoka's playing cards and Kalluto's ability has been a good reference for me. Anyways, I'm excited to make my own Hatsu lol. My inspiration is Konan and Deidara from Naruto so any advice will be appreciated.

How does Nen Memory work?

  1. How does Nen Memory work? I know about Kastro but what other ways has it influenced the story?

  2. Which nen types are the most susceptible to this concept?

  3. And which types would have the least amount of problems when it comes to just having multiple abilities? without worrying about nen memory or running out of nen memory space.

  4. Does using an ability on multiple targets at once, ever result into a combatant losing steam faster in a hypothetical nen fight?

  5. Is nen memory universal? Or it's an old/outdated rule that simply puts the expectations on abilities to be min-maxed?
