Using smaller gas canisters on this camping stove

I've always borrowed camping stuff from family members, including some small stoves which use the 227g canisters you can get cheaply on amazon. Recently, my partner bought this Rocktrail double burner for £20 on vinted but didn't check the gas adapter fitting. Seemed like a good deal and its quite nice and packs away nicely. Its got an adapter for 5kg canisters, which seems a bit overkill for our needs, and expensive to buy. We are typically camping close to the car so weight isn't a big issue but would ideally use a format of gas smaller than 5kg. The box says 437 g/hr gas consumption but I'm assuming that's if both burners are on full, which most of the time won't be the case.

So, basically:

  1. Is that burn rate a maximum, such that using 1 burner on medium would be less than half of that?
  2. What are the easiest to buy (ideally on amazon etc) gas formats, other than 227g, for casual use? Maybe like 500g-1kg or something.. These generally seem pretty expensive from what I've seen
  3. Is there any reason why I can't buy a different adapter/regulator and replace the hose+ regulator? Anything I need to watch out for? From a brief search I couldn't find many replacement regulator/adapers but I didn't really know what I was looking for

Any other general advice on what to use in this sitution would be greate. Cheers :)
