2013 $1 Star Note Duplicate Serial Number! B06268431*

I got this $1 2013 star note duplicate bill as part of change from a Facebook marketplace sale today. I had been selling items on Facebook marketplace and of course everyone tries to haggle the price down so I decided that I would take the lower offers (really just $5 less than the originally price usually) if they paid solely in $1 bills. I figured if I can get $1 bills for these items I could have more $1 bills to go through from all over the place.

Of the bills that I got from this sale today I had only gotten this star note and a birthday note. I was going to just use the money to pay for gas. I wasn’t going to plug it into the star note lookup site because I knew from just looking at it that it wasn’t going to be a “rare” Star note that came from a low print run of 640,000 or less because the serial number on this bill was 6,268,431.

I finally decided to plug it into the site and it asked me a question that I had never seen before. It was asking if the bill was minted at Washington DC or at Fort Worth Texas. I was confused why it was asking me that. I thought it was just a new feature but I was confused as to why it would be asking that. I then remembered that the site also tells you if your star note is part of the duplicate ones made in 2013 at Washington DC and Fort Worth. When it finally updated I had seen a notice that I had never seen before on the website. The note said “Important Note—This run of serial numbers were printed twice - once at the Fort Worth printing facility and once at the Washington DC printing facility.”. I couldn’t believe it! To think that I almost just spent this bill without plugging it into the site is just so extremely lucky.

I plugged my bill into another website that is a database for these kinds of serial numbers. It checks to see if the other part of the pair of duplicates has been entered into its database yet or not. Unfortunately for it the other B06268431* serial number printed at the Fort Worth Texas facility has not yet been entered into the database. It’ll be very difficult to find the other bill if ever. Who knows if it is even still out there. It could have been tossed or destroyed at some point and unfortunately there’s just no way of knowing.

This is just a great addition to my collection of serial numbers and star note serial numbers. I never even considered finding one of these bills because I thought it was just impossible essentially but I’m glad to have been proven wrong!

Extra Long 8000B Serial Number

Found this yesterday while looking for fancy serial numbers. This is the second BOOB serial number that I have found that actually uses the letter at the end of the serial number to spell it out! I have found other regular 8008 serial numbers that just use the numbers to spell out BOOB and so I started thinking a while back that it would be neat to find one that does use the letters of the serial number to help spell it out. The last one I found was just 800B which is great but this one is an extra big 8000B since it has the extra 0 in it. Anyways I just thought this was funny and a great addition to my collection of “Nice” serial numbers.

Most Extreme Stuck Digit Error/Gas Pump Error I Have Ever Seen!

I got this bill back as change the other day. I had put it off to the side to look at again some time later because the serial number caught my eye with all the 3’s that were in it. Came back to look at it again and decide if I was going to spend it or keep it and that’s when I did a double take and noticed that the serial number in the top right corner had a 3 that was a stuck digit error. This is the most extreme stuck digit error I have ever seen in person or possibly even online. I have found other stuck digit errors in the past and I’ve kept just a few if they are on the more extreme end of things but this one was just so much higher than anything I’ve seen before.
Anyways I just wasn’t sure if this was a bill to post on this sub or not. It is an error that relates to serial numbers technically so that’s why I decided to ask. If it was some other kind of error I wouldn’t have posted this on here. I still think it is still a kind of semi cool serial number since it is a five of a kind with all the 3’s in the serial number. Anyways thanks for any input you have on this!

$1 Radar Serial Number!

I was bank strap hunting yesterday and got this $1 radar serial number! I actually almost missed this! I go through stacks of twenty bills at a time and then go over them one more time in case I missed anything before moving on to the next stack. I missed it the first time going through the stack it was in but thankfully I go through it twice! Had to do a double take with it. Thankfully this was just in the first stack of twenty bills I had gone through because if it was in one of the stacks towards the end of the bills I had I would have had to go back through every other bill before that to make sure I hadn’t missed anything else! That definitely would have been very annoying!
Unfortunately this bill is very beat up and not in good condition at all. Because of that this will probably just stay in my collection of bills permanently. No matter the condition it is still always great to find fancy serial numbers!

Most Extreme Stuck Digit Error/Gas Pump Error I’ve Ever Seen! Are Stuck Digit Errors/Gas Pump Errors Allowed On This Sub?

Most Significant Gas Pump Error I Have Ever Found!

I received this $1 bill as cash back the other day. I had set it aside to look back at it again later because of the serial number just catching my eye due to all of the 3’s it contained. Did some bank strap hunting today and grabbed my bills that I had also tossed to the side and that’s when I noticed that there was a gas pump error! I’ve found lots of gas pump errors in the past but I have never held onto many because they were just barely above the rest. This bill on the other hand is way higher than any other one I’ve ever seen in person!

What do you consider to be a high serial number?

I found this $5 a couple of months ago while at work. For a while I had been looking for potential “high serial numbers” and the closest I had been to 96,000,000 was within 20,000-50,000 of that, up until I found this $5 bill. This bill is 4,379 away from 96,000,000 and is the highest serial number I’ve found so far. (96,000,000 being the highest serial number for $1’s, $2’s, $5’s, $10’s, and $20’s).

When I looked into what is considered a “high serial number” there really isn’t any discussion on high serial numbers. When you look up what is considered a high serial number you’re likely to find that anything that is within 10 of the highest serial number is considered a high serial number. The same can be said for low serial numbers as well, that being any serial number within 10 of the lowest number is considered a low serial number. However, even though a low serial number might be considered anything lower than 10, that doesn’t mean that the serial number of 11 isn’t a “low serial number” as well and that it’s not worth anything over face value. A serial number of 11 definitely will sell for over face value. A lot of people do agree that serial numbers below 1,000 will sell for over face value (of course if it’s in relatively good condition and not a $50 or $100 due to the high face value already). However, some people do consider that serial numbers that are <= 0000XXXX can be considered “low serial numbers”. That doesn’t mean that bills that are <= 0000XXXX are worth over face value, but some can be. I personally do hold onto any bills that I come across that are <= 0000XXXX.

So when it comes to high serial numbers, how high does a serial number have to be to start to be considered a high serial number? I think it stands to reason that, just like with low serial numbers, if it is within 9,999 of the lowest or highest serial number that it can start to be considered “highish” and “lowish”. I think that once it is within 999 of the lowest or highest serial number that it can start to be truly a low or high serial number.

It’s weird that there’s not a whole lot of discussion about what’s a high serial number when there is a lot of discussions about what’s a low serial number. Is the reason why there’s not much discussion about high serial numbers because there’s just not many people that interested in them? I think that there is a smaller niche of people who like higher serial numbers. I think one reason why high serial numbers are not as popular as low serial numbers is because it’s far easier to notice a low serial number when it has 4-7 0’s leading it, while compared to high serial numbers of 1’s, 2’s, 5’s, 10’s, and 20’s, it has to start with 9599XXXX, which is just easy to skip and miss as just being any other ordinary serial number if you don’t have the information that the highest the serial number for those bills can be is 96,000,000 and not 99,999,999 like with 50’s and 100’s.

I would just like to hear what your opinions are about what you consider to be a high serial number or even what is considered to be a “highish” serial number as well. I appreciate you all for your input on this!

$1 Radar Serial Number

Got this back as change yesterday! I was disappointed at first with the cash back that I had received because I had gotten back a $1 bill with the serial number of 50715070 so just barely missed out on a repeater… then two bills later on I got this radar bill! I got lucky this time! Thought this might also be kinda neat for someone born July of 1991 or even July 7th of 1991.

Missed repeater by one

Got this as cash back. Unfortunately missed a repeater by just one. Luckily in my cash back I did get a $1 radar serial number!

$2 Bill June 18th 1844 06181844

Found this $2 bill in a random shoe box of mine with random things in it. I received this as a gift from my grandparents as a family tradition where we get $2 bills for all Christmas’s and Birthdays. For some reason this one wasn’t with the rest of the other $2 bills I have.

Thought this bill was interesting since I live in an area of the US that is predominantly Mormon and this bills serial number relates to the Mormon religion.

Here’s what happened on that date:

On June 18, 1844, Joseph Smith, acting as the mayor of Nauvoo, Illinois, issued an official city proclamation declaring martial law in Nauvoo amid mounting local tensions and fears of an armed mob attack.

Declaration of Martial Law: Joseph Smith placed Nauvoo under martial law to protect the city and restrict the movement of people and property.

Mobilization of the Nauvoo Legion: The local militia was put on alert as threats escalated following the destruction of the Nauvoo Expositor press days prior.

Escalation to Martyrdom: This heightened state of alarm immediately preceded Joseph and Hyrum Smith surrendering to authorities in Carthage, where they were assassinated nine days later on June 27, 1844.

“4th of July” Star Note Found Today!

Found this today at work believe it or not! I noticed immediately that it was a birthday note (although April 7th is what I saw at first). I ran the serial number through the star note lookup site to see if it was a low print run size, but it was just average. That’s when the date popped in my head. A 4th of July bill found on the 4th of July! 😂 it’s the one day of the year that we say day month year and not month day year. I just can’t believe the odds of finding this today. Figured I just had to post this for the 4th today.

Not sure if this subreddit counts this as the 4th of July or April 7th. I’m just unsure if DDMMYYYY applies here since it is the 4th of July instead of the regular MMDDYYYY. Either way still a birthday note. Let me know your thoughts. Thanks!

Happy 4th!

Apparently on this date (4th of July 1896) was the first debut of the 45th star USA flag since earlier that year on January 4th 1896 Utah had become the 45th state to join the United States. That makes it the first Independence Day that Utah got to celebrate as a state of the US!

Happy 4th!

Showing Off My “Nice” Serial Numbers

Found these serial numbers over the past few months while at work. Just had to shown them off. Got serial numbers that contain: 800B, 6998008, 6969, 699420, 69420, 69420, and 420000.

Thought it was great when I had first found the 8008 serial number, then I thought it would be awesome to find a 8OO8 serial number that actually ended or started with a B… then I found exactly that not much long after.

420’s and 69’s aren’t uncommon just by themselves but I thought the combination of the two were neat.

Then got 420 the loooong way
