Android TV in-app Update broken?

Is the in-app update feature of the Android TV app broken?

I initially installed it using the link on the website (since I have a FireTV Cube 3, which does not have the Google Play Store).

Ever since I heard about the new UI launching on Android TV, I've tried clicking the update button daily for it to update. But nothing shows up.

I finally updated it using the link on the website and that worked, so not sure what's up with the update button.

Really liking the new UI btw. Looks beautiful!

Playback issues on FireTV Cube 3

Hi,

My system setup is as follows: Amazon FireTV Cube 3 connected via HDMI 2.1 to Samsung HW-Q990-F soundbar, which is connected via HDMI 2.1 eARC to Samsung S90C TV.

I have connected via the soundbar instead of directly to the TV because the soundbar supports HDMI 2.1 pass through, and also supports DTS. If I connected it to the TV first, then I'd lose DTS playback (since the TV does not support it).

Now, there are a couple of problems when I play back media on Vidhub vs playing it on the Plex/Kodi app:

  1. No frame rate change/sync. Plex correctly changes my TV's frame rate to 24hz, while Vidhub keeps it at 60hz.

  2. When playing back media with Dolby TrueHD Atmos, Plex plays it as Atmos, as does Vidhub Media engine 1.0. But as soon as I switch to 2.0, it plays as Dolby Stereo PCM. Enabling or Disabling audio pass through does not change anything.

  3. When playing back media with DTS-HD MA, Plex plays it as Multi Channel PCM (not ideal, but still okay), but Kodi plays back DTS flawlessly (using Kodi's IEC packer and some workarounds to fix a firmware bug). So DTS should probably be playable on this hardware. However, Vidhub 2.0 still plays it as Dolby Stereo PCM (which is worse than Multi Channel PCM). When I change the media engine to 1.0, it plays DTS for a bit, but then the stream crashes. Enabling or Disabling audio pass through changes nothing. And Disabling Hardware Acceleration makes the media stutter a lot.

Seems like something is wrong with the 2.0 engine on the FireTV Cube 3. Could you please look into this?

Thanks

And let me know if you need some more info from me regarding this.

On a positive note, HDR10+ is playing back flawlessly on both media engine 1.0 and 2.0.
