Struggling with Nemesis.

Love this rifle when it works. Looks and sounds cool, ironsights are clear, interesting AoE mechanic that rewards good aim, etc. Trouble is, with large densities of mobs it's very easy to lose track of the marked target and then I chew through ammo fast (wish it would always spread to the mob closest to the kill instead of that random wretch off in Narnia). It feels like a worse Hangfire with slightly longer range.

Anyone using this in Gnosis V and above? How do you work around that weakness, and what do you pair with it. Thanks!

Elevator drive, the cause of and solution to most of RC's problems.

It all stems from this one event that you cannot avoid, and which is exactly the same every time. It's much like DRG's Doretta and inherits some of its problems as well as new ones. In my experience it's the #1 run killer and most of your actions whether you're aware of it or not, are in preparation for it.

So why is it so bad? Well, other than the obvious collision box issue which everyone has noticed, there is the added problem of creepers headbanging or just moving erratically over it and turning their back to you whilst clawing the drive. This makes it awkward to hit their weakpoints, particularly with auto weapons like the GK2, exposing just how bad TTK is in this game without WPs. You'll waste more ammo and have to reload more often as well. Often due to the terrain one or more dwarves has to be by the drive to take out any hidden creepers, making it really easy to friendly fire with grenades.

So naturally until you get a heavy weapon you're desperate for some sort of AoE upgrade like BYD, or volatile combustion, anything to overpower the drive jank. And this desperation leads to doing events when it probably isn't a good idea to do so, mining every atom of expenite, and to be greedy during drafts which hurts team synergy. And then the worms come, dialing the jank to 11.

Improve the elevator event, or replace it with something that isn't so aggravating, and I'm willing to bet a stone, maybe even a rock, that players' issues with the timer and the draft will be greatly reduced.

Why RC's combat feels 'off'.

In DRG, your loadout is (if you didn't spend all your time at the bar) meticulously crafted so that your weapons and equipment all work together. This means that they all see a lot of use and are constantly being juggled. Using both weapons on the same bug (boltshark to freeze, primary to kill) can be a staple of your build. Even your traversal tool can be a staple of your build (plastcrete catalyst, combat drills).

In RC, you spend much of your time spamming one weapon. If you're lucky you'll come across a secondary that complements your primary, but I'm just happy if I get a big ammostick to use on the creepers so I can build my primary for the boss. I almost never use my traversal tool. That satisfying juggling of equipment has been replaced by class skills, but unlike a DRG loadout, those skills are set in stone. Also, as far as I've seen they are only marginally modified by upgrades, and are in direct competition with weapon upgrades. So more often than not I end up with a build that is completely different from the previous run's build, but which doesn't feel nearly as exciting to play as a tricked out DRG build. And this is unfortunate for a game that is all about the combat. I have a solution but it would sink this post into downvote hell so I'll spare you (it may or may not involve a 3D printer at the start).

Another issue I have with the combat is that more emphasis is placed on good aim, and yet the crosshairs are awful and really easy to lose track of in the mayhem, especially for charging weapons. We need more crosshair options IMO. At least a global color and alpha setting. Ideally you would have dynamic (the current, per-weapon animating option) and static options, where the latter gives you a choice between popular crosshairs. The charging on the static crosshair would be shown through its color.
