Munster i bPáirc Úi Chaoimh

munster are playing racing in cork in October in the champions cup.

i’m a big fan of the provinces playing in gaa stadiums personally. however, i thought the same last year v gloucester. however come the chose these two games over the game v leinster?

last year the got just over 30k if i remember correctly. which is great, but they could easily sell it out for the leinster game. now im bit saying every game v leinster should be there as it will take away from thomond. but if they are gonna do it, why not against leinster?

i hope this post doesn’t come across like im joking about munster not filling an páirc. but i just think their missing an opportunity.

on another note i think it would be cool for them to go to a county they dont play in and play in semple or somewhere. same goes for other provinces as i loved connacht playing in mchale.

Joey Carbery

He’s coming back from a bad injury so i can see him having to break his way into the team for a while. I have a small feeling that cullen could just treat him like frawley and play him as our second choice 15 and not use him as a ten. however hope he doesn’t, would love to see him get in over byrne and maybe prendergast. as im not convinced on byrne and it’s hard to tell where sam is at in form.

on another note, do we see him in with any chance for the ireland jersey if he gets into form? he’s coming from the back to back european champions.

with frawley set to get consistent game time at outhalf i feel it will be harder as the front three in the running will all be playing against each other, but if he can get the leinster jersey i see him with a real chance to wear green again.

anyways, will be nice to see him in blue again no matter what.

how much would the players get payed?

Does anyone know how much the players would get payed shall it ever turn pro?

i’m a casual fan of gaa, so i’m not very involved in the ins and outs. and obviously there’s that talk of paying the players. but as a causal, i’ve never actually heard a rough number on what players would get payed.

obviously there is levels to it as i know dublin footballers should get more than roscommon hurlers. but i am mainly wondering about the highest level(limerick hurlers, kerry footballers).

now as an avid sports fan i know that revenue is the biggest factor in wages. and i believe the cork hurlers would have the best crowds and dublin collect the most revenue off of jerseys and the brand that they have. (could be completely wrong there tbh).

so can someone tell me how much they would get payed? pls

a european championship

i for one would be a big supporter of a european championship should it ever happen.

i definitely think its possible and would improve european rugby. but i do think to maximise its potential you would have to remove the six nations for the year it happens to not make the season too long.

i was doing a bit of digging into the football teams run in euro 88 and was surprised to see there was only 8 teams in it(two groups of 4). and the KO’s started at the semis.

obviously rugby wouldn’t be able to have the size of the football due to not as many competitive countries but i do think a euros with 10 or 12 teams would be great.

it would allow teams like Georgia and Spain to have more exposure and chance to go far.

i also think it would make games against the likes of NZ and SA more special as we wouldn’t be playing them in the summer and it would be a not so often occasion.

i know it wont be able to happen in between world cup cycles bc of the lions tour which probably is a factor suppressing the idea.

It would also allow for the likes of Spain and Portugal to host which would bring a lot of exposure to the sport there.

i know a lot won’t like the idea of losing a six nations but i think it would definitely be worth it.

an idea of how it would work would be like this:

Group A

-Ireland
-Italy
-Scotland
-Georgia
-Romania

Group B

-France
-England
-Wales
-Spain
-Portugal

Semi-Final 1

1st place Group A vs 2nd place Group B

Semi-Final 2

1st place Group B vs 2nd place Group A

an irish cup

i always think they ail r missing out on a cup taken seriously. all 5 leagues play and maybe a the winners of the provincial top leagues or something. a final would bring in more neutrals imo as i feel the two finalists could change every year with how cups work. we could see great cup runs and more teams get a chance to show off at a high level.

i haven’t really thought out the logistics tbh ive just always thought its a cool idea. this is very influenced by the npc in NZ.

i feel like it would connect people more to their clubs, especially people outside the cities provinces play in. midlands ppl etc.

it would be like a thing all irish rugby fans tune into for the later stages and especially the final. as it would be a thing that comes around once a year. i don’t think many are very intrested in the 1a final when their team isn’t in 1a, i know im not.

this also just gives the chance for teams to get to play in the aviva if they can do a great run

premier sports

shame the champions cup final isn’t on rte but on premier. i don’t know what it is but does anyone feel like premier feels really cheap?

in fairness it has good stuff like most rugby matches and a good bit of football, but the production just never appears appealing to me. i’m not really talking about the punditry bc i think it’s decent for the rugby. but in general does anyone else just not like it.

it feels like the champions cup final isn’t too prestigious to be shown on somewhere so crap.

not from dublin so don’t go to many pubs round there for matches. anyone know a pub preferably near the aviva/dart line that would have a fanzone or big screen for the final? or even just a good buzz of fans.
