stuyvesant discovery
Hi guys.. I don’t know if people would see this but i’m here to tell everyone everything i wish i was told before i started the discovery program. For credentials i got into stuyvesant through the discovery program and i plan on attending stuy! okay first of all, going through the discovery program does not mean you must attend stuyvesant if you get in. If you feel like the workload of discovery is not for you it only gets harder in stuy. If i were to be honest, to me the discovery program wasent veryyyyy hard but it took time to adjust to getting up early in the morning and studying in the SUMMER. That’s why i did bad on my first math quiz.. a 65😢 But im here to tell you it can ALWAYS be improved, i tried much harder on my other tests and i ended the program with around a 90 so improvement is always possible. The program does not need you to be great all 4 weeks, there are 2 paths you can take. One going up showing improvement: you don’t do very well at the beginning, you don’t participate, you don’t talk, you don’t do good on tests. But at the end of the program you visibly improve, participating, discussing, and doing good on tests. This path is the path of many students who got in. The other path is a flat line, you’re consistently good: from start to end of the program you’re participating, discussing, and doing good on tests. This path alongside a 80+ average in both classes literally guarantees you a seat at stuy. Create relationships with your guidance counselor and TA’s. This was super super helpful for me, I consistently asked for help from both the counselor for discovery and my TA’s. Super helpful and made the program a lot easier for me. Lastly ATTENDANCE! attendance is super important for discovery, it shows administrators that you WANT to be there, it shows that your dedicated and willing to give up your summer to get into stuy. Well that’s all for now.. i can’t really think of anything else but feel free to ask any questions! I’ll try to answer ASAP!!
