These BOGOs

This was the worst BOGO I’ve experienced at 7 years at Chipotle. Doing a “school spirit” BOGO during a move-in day of 3 local universities from 3-11?! We were literally slammed for the last 6 hours with at least 40 ppl in line. Chipotle doesn’t allocate any extra labor to these BOGOs, but expect you to prep and serve an extra $3-4k worth of food. Not to mention, you literally have no time to give out breaks, clean, prep more food, preclose or catch a breath, because it last up until CLOSE. And then ppl come on here whining about dirty lines and the store being out of shit, but would be complaining if everyone wasn’t hands on deck get them through the line faster. Chipotle has got to change the way they approach these in the future.

30DPO ETT/MR

The first photo is almost 2 years ago. The second is 1D pre op. The third is 10 DPO. Fourth is 17 DPO. Fifth is 24 DPO. Sixth is today. The last two are from the side pre op and today.

I have gotten my last drain taken out! I am moving around at work fine. My one month appointment is next Tuesday. This will (hopefully) be the appointment where my restrictions are taken off. I have been super cautious and it has ultimately paid off so far. The swelling has gone down progressively. My scar isn’t showing here but it looks a lot better. I’m actually more annoyed with my remaining stretch marks on my stomach that are constantly swelling and super itchy. Also, my fat pads adjacent to my chest have become my most noticeable feature to me, so that’s not great, but overall very excited.

24 DPO

The first is almost 2 years ago, second is 10DPO, third is 17DPO, fourth and fifth is today. These weekly pictures are really helping see the big picture! The swelling is coming down! I’m sure it will go back up for a period, but I’ll worry about that when it happens lol.
I went to my moderately intensive job (some walking, 90%+ on my feet) Wednesday. I was prioritizing rest in recovery, so going from standing 20 minutes at a time to hours worried me, but I was equally tired compared to before my surgery.
The binder has been amazing for back pain. I didn’t even notice my back was hurting until I bent over. I have one drain left and it’s still producing over 30mL, but not necessarily more after working which was what I was worried about. Last week, I couldn’t wait until I got my last drain out and take off my binder, but now I’m kinda feeling attached to them. It’ll be weird not having them.

2.5 WPO

The first pic is 1D pre op, second is 10 DPO, third is today (17 DPO). I had my 2 week checkup yesterday. They took out 3 of my 4 drains (the fourth drain randomly decided to release 60mL of fluid in like 12 hours after producing less than 30 the entire week). Yesterday was the first time seeing my incision since they took off the surgical grade silk tape…interesting to see to say the least….Still swollen less than last week though. The right side is definitely more than the right. My lower ab area is pretty solid, but the area immediately above is very jiggly. Against my better judgment, I got on the scale this morning and… I lost weight (over 4 lbs since surgery). I’m actually at the lowest weight I’ve been since I started my weight loss journey. I know it’s a yo-yo, but I definitely feel the opposite. I am worried about the color of my drain fluid: it isn’t lightening. It’s been a dark red since surgery. The nurse yesterday didn’t seem concerned about it, but I was told it should be turning yellow-clear. It makes me hesitant to be more active since my doctor thought I was pushing myself too hard because it was so dark at my first week appointment (I literally did nothing my first week, but lay around). I start back at work next week and I move around fine. The pain is limited and manageable. I just don’t want to go backwards.

Reflection on My First Week of Recovery

It has officially been 7 days since my (31M) TT with MR and it certainly hasn’t been easy, but SO FAR I would probably put myself in the 80th percentile for first week recovery. I’m basically standing up straight and I think I should be able to get my drains out since all of them haven’t been producing more 10mL per day for the last 3 days. I probably have terrible swelling, but I’ve been fat nearly my entire life, so bloating, etc. is still a relatively foreign concept. I have been reading this page for over a year and applied some of it this week and these are some of the things of my takeaways:
1. HAVE HELP
- I would have never been able to do anything barely my first 4 days. Idk how anyone could possibly have went through this recovery alone. It would have been a nightmare trying to take medications, prepare food, etc. while also being incapacitated and on pain meds.
2. GET THE WALKER
- There is a list of materials pinned at the top of this page. I got most of the stuff, but veered away from the walker, but GOODNESS It would have helped me at least for the first few days. Other things I would recommend from that list was the recliner (my living room is full of recliners. I can’t imagine life without this week), the 6-piece pillow set that allows you to sit up (for when you inevitably get sick of sleeping in a chair), the grabber, the foams for your binder (the binder becomes uncomfortable almost instantly), and the shower chair were definitely non- negotiable.
3. YOU’LL HAVE TO COUGH OR CLEAR THROAT. HERE’S WHAT I DID.
- People often suggest holding a pillow up your stomach. I genuinely can’t imagine how that’s helpful no offense. If you can lower yourself, push your stomach against side of couch or bed, place head into bed or couch, send a prayer up, and ease yourself into a cough (start off small and work self up until the mucus is broken up)

Overall, pretty decent first week. My results are start to look like something compared to the second day when all the nurses were telling me I looked good and I was like ??? Again, I hopefully should be getting my drains out which will be a relief (they don’t bother me that much, but it’s hard to feel like you’re moving forward with them in). I will show before and afters as soon as they’re gone. My MR pain has gotten a lot better. It’s starting to feel like the aftermath of strong ab workout. One of the biggest things I’m dealing with is the numbness. It’s something one has to experience to understand how weird it is and then you realize it will last for over a year or the rest of my life and it’s interesting. I still haven’t seen my actual incision. The doctor put a special bandage on it that can’t be removed in the first two weeks, but I’m sure that will replace the numbness as the “thing to get used to”. Anyway, thanks for reading. Good luck on all of your journeys!

MR recovery

When I went in for my TT consultation, I could have sworn my PS said that he didn’t feel any separation, but he did say at the follow up that there would need to be some MR completed. This had me worried as (outside of Lipo, which I didn’t get), ppl said this was the most painful and annoying aspect of the procedure. Fast forward, I am 3DPO and I am very curious as to how long before others felt this was manageable. I know I’m obviously in the thick of it, but I feel like I’m healing well all things considered. Just wanted a view of other’s experiences with it and what to maybe expect.

Sodium Intake

So, my turn is coming up soon, but I’m wondering how people controlled their salt intake during recovery. My diet is very high sodium, but I do a decent amount of cardio, so it balances out. The lack of activity plus the natural swelling worries me. How much did y’all have to alter your diet in order to not exacerbate your swelling? Did you just use salt substitutes, only eat low sodium foods and avoid adding salt, only eat at home. Obviously we need sodium, so how much did you cut back?
