CGAUX FEMA GDA - Moodle
Hey folks, the CGAUX Q-Directorate just went live with its first training course on Moodle (CGAUX Classroom). It’s called “Module 1: Introduction to GIS and GDAs” and is open to all members. Module 1 includes a brief informational overview of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) & what are Geospatial Damage Assessments (GDAs). After learning about those topics members can apply to join the GDA program.
The FEMA GDA is a program that focuses on assessing damage within 72hrs after a disaster and after that period of time helping affected areas obtain emergency declarations. CGAUX volunteers work directly with FEMA & CG-OEM (Office of Emergency Management) and have made direct impacts on many disasters including the most recent Typhoon Sinlaku and Washington State record flooding.
I’m happy to answer any questions as I lead the program on the FEMA side and I’m an CGAUX member.
