Halfway through 2026: What's your favorite Indian microbrand release of the year?

Releases like the CasiOak ripoff and the Royale ripoff make it clear that Timex is copying from Casio – but that isn’t the only brand they’re copying from. There’s another, and rather unexpected one – Fossil.  

The Timex TWEG314SMU01 copies the well-established Fossil Grant design (in this case the FS5237) right down to the color combinations and case design. Except, of course, the Timex is worse in every way.

The Fossil is an already large 44mm, the Timex is an oversized 46mm. The Fossil has a steel case, the Timex uses brass. The Timex’s dial layout is less refined and the biggest difference – the Fossil is a proper chronograph, the Timex is a multifunction/calendar watch.

It’s a shame that a brand with as much history as Timex is reducing itself to copying.

And of course, despite that, there still be people who say Timex proper watch, Fossil fashion watch...what a joke.
