To Kill A Mockingbird

To Kill A Mockingbird

You hire Gamora if you want results.

In a matter of days, she was ready produce then. Blades sharpened, target located, easy mark, seemingly.

Of course, she knows her target isn’t going down without a fight. Good. She gets a good workout and then she gets to choose whether she wants more pay, or wants to take a a crazy bird woman off the board. Both options have their perks.

Sneaking onto the ship was easy. Gamora has done it before, hiding in a supply drop and waiting for her opening. When she sees it, she begins to sneak her way through the ship, weaving around any cameras.

Eventually, she finds the room of a currently sleeping Deathbird. Gamora stands over the bed, sword in hand. Shame, this was supposed to be harder.

Some Kind Of Nature

In doing tracking to locate her target, Gamora finds herself boarding what appears to be an abandoned Skrull ship.

The second she steps onto it, she realizes very quickly that “abandoned” was the wrong word. They were slaughtered.

Gamora picks up one of the bodies, taking note of the claw marks all over it.

Here I thought I might be wasting my time. This was clearly her handiwork.

It strikes Gamora at this moment how little she knows about her client, or whoever they represented. She doesn’t assume anyone is dumb enough to cross her in terms of skipping her payment, so she didn’t think to look into them much. But in retrospect? It was probably a Skrull.

Gamora is getting involved in something personal, here. Not that she minds. The brutality on display here tells her that she is probably doing the right thing taking out Deathbird. She can take the pay cut that killing her will bring. She can’t stand by this level of brutality.

Space is vast. Gamora isn’t sure where Deathbird went next. But she is going to find out.

The Sharpest Lives

Gamora sits at a table in a bar on Knowhere, across from someone who she is about to accept a job from. She’s looking at information on the target provided in a folder.

Whats the rate?

“You bring her in alive? My boss will pay you whatever the hell you want.”

About the answer she expected.

And if I bring her in dead?

“You’ll get your pay, but it won’t be as much”

Strikes me as a little odd to call me if you don’t want her dead.

“Cuse me? My boss afford anyone in this galaxy. He heard you were the best, so he started with you. You think you can’t do it or something?”

No, I’m more than capable.

“Then get on it. You got a week.”

The man leaves, and Gamora rolls her eyes. Of course she can bring her in alive, it’s just a weird thing to ask the deadliest woman in the galaxy. Usually when Gamora goes back to bounty hunting, they ask for the targets head.

Doesn’t matter. Gamora slams the rest of her drink. Time to get to work. The current target probably deserves to die, but that’s not the gig. Gamora looks over the files one more time before leaving.

Cal’syee Neramani. See you very soon.
