Why are abbreviations used so much in Singapore?

Singlish is already a very efficient language, but doesn't the overuse of shortened forms of a word to save space and time cause more confusion? E.g. my parents occasionally use 'BGR' as a short form for 'boy-girl relationships' and I think it's bizarre 🤯

Suggestions to deal with inconsiderate neighbours in Singapore jamming the common chute and lazy management office not doing anything that is effective?

For context - I've tried to be tolerant and I even caught one unit's domestic helper trying to further jam the chute 2 months ago. She swore that the big paper bag wasn't hers and came from another unit. I have emailed the management office 4 times over the last 7- 8 months but all they can do is "we will send someone to clear it" or "we will send reminders and place signs" which is clearly not working at all.

In the last hour, I found that the chute is jammed again, this time with a horrible smell like diapers. There's only one unit with an infant, and to be sure, I rang the bell of all the other units on the same floor - there isn't anyone at home for the other units.

Any similar experiences and constructive suggestions to counter this problem?
