Sicilia travel
Hello everyone 👋
We will be traveling to Sicily from December 23 to December 30 and we have planned the following itinerary:
Dec 23: arrival in Catania → transfer to Syracuse
Dec 24: Neapolis Archaeological Park and Ortigia (Syracuse)
Dec 25: day trip to Noto and return to Syracuse
Dec 26: transfer to Agrigento
Dec 27: Valley of the Temples → travel to Cefalù
Dec 28: Cefalù → travel to Palermo
Dec 29: Palermo
Dec 30: flight back from Palermo
We will not be renting a car, so we will rely entirely on trains and public transport 🚆
We have a few doubts and would really appreciate advice from people familiar with Sicily:
How does train/bus transportation work on December 24 and 25? Are there reliable connections from Syracuse to Noto on those days?
Are archaeological parks open during Christmas (especially on the 24th and 25th)?
Is it realistic to travel by train between Agrigento, Cefalù, and Palermo during that period, or are there major limitations?
Any tips about holiday schedules, delays, or things we should keep in mind in winter?
Would you suggest any changes to this itinerary?
Thank you very much for your help! 😊
