Is it viable to work as a Spanish-language teacher?

Hey!

I'm a native Spanish speaker who will soon have a Spanish Language and Literature degree.

I was wondering if working as a Spanish teacher in the UK is a requested job or if I won't see a penny there.

I know this is such a subjective topic, but I want to know if people there are interested in learning foreigner languages such as mine. Thank you!

It is well seen to carry the UK flag?

I'll explain it properly.

Here, in Spain, the flag of our country has such a... controversial connotation. Depending of who you're asking to, you could obtain two opposite answers:

- You wear your flag because you're proud of your country, your culture and the place you've grown up.

- If you wear the Spanish flag it is a symbol of fascism, extreme-right and conservadurism.

I'm extremely curious about if this happens the same way in the UK. Has your flag been politicized? Does it have any connotation? (I mean, if you wear it, people assume you're from the right or the left...)

British rock starter pack?

Hi! I'm looking forward listening to British rock, but I don't know where to start. Punk would be also cool.

I already know the popular songs from Queen, Bowie, The Clash, TRex, The Smiths... but I want to introduce myself more in brit music. If you could recommend songs ahead of the typical ones, it would be lovely!

Btw, I'm talking about SPECIFICALLY 70s-80s music. I don't want any song before or after those decades.

Would you like to read a 70s-London inspired coming-out-of-age book?

I'm currently thinking about remaking a book I wrote two years ago. I'm planning to change many things inside the plot, but the principal idea of the story stays the same:

a boy whose father is imprisoned, supposedly, without a reason. This teenager has to move from his quiet home town to the big London during the end of the 70s/beginning of 80s.

This book is LGTB-themed with queer representation and other topics/tropes such as:

- Mental health.

- Love (specifically friends to lovers).

- Group of friends (found family).

- A looott of rock music.

- Angst/comfort with a happy ending.

EDIT: for those who downvoted, could you explain why you did it in order to improve my post? Thanks!!

Writers block: lost interest, initial hype or lazinnes? Send help

I'll be quick.

A couple months ago, I started planning my current novel. Out of 17 chapters, I've written the first chapter and I've recently started the second why. My problem is that I'm not sure if I have lost the interest, I've lost the initial hype of the book or if I'm just lazy. Do you have any idea about how to difference those three?

I'll continue:

the thing is I'm gaining interest again on a project I left behind around few months ago. To sum it up, I wrote a book from January 2024 until June 2025. Then, in November 2025, I decided to rewrite it making several changes. I haven't touched that draft since March 2026, but now I want to change it again and start from the beginning.

The thing is I am mad at myself because I'm never able to finish what I start. Every time I come up with a new idea for a project, I throw it to the trash a couple of weeks later. I wanted my current book to be the exception, so I put myself a deadline (beginning of November) to finish writing it. I know what you are thinking: writing should be a punishment nor an obligation. I know. And I also know myself. That's the reason why I'm putting that "limit", to make sure I achieve it.

However, my dilemma is still there. I don't what to do, so I'll expose you my options and I would love any advice about them:

1.— "Force" myself to write everyday a bit. 500 words a day, perhaps. Maybe I don't achieve my November goal, but at least I try to get out of writer's block.

2.— Take a break from my current project and work on the previous one (the one I want to rescue). That way I will clear my mind and them come up later with a fresh mind and new ideas.

3.— Alternate between both projects, the current one and the past one. That way I take advantage on both.

I'm losing interest in my project

I've been a couple months until now working on my current project. I've only written the first chapter out of the seventeen chapters the book has. It is about 7k words, and yesterday I started the second one, in which I already reached about 500 words.

The thing is I noticed how I'm slowly (and not THAT slowly) starting to lose interest. I mean, I'm not excited as I was at the beginning.

I would love to receive any advice about what to do in this situation. How can I see it with new eyes? Do you have any trick or tip about it?

Also I consider it is important for you to know that I'm thinking about rescuing a project I've been working on since 2024. I mean, it took me a year to finish first draft, and then I was rewriting it until I stopped in March 2026. I don't know what to do with them. Also, my goal was to write 50% of my current book during this summer holidays.

Please help me, what would u do.

Wich are the disadvantages of the UK?

As many others non-English speakers (and people who live outside of the UK), I think we all have this stereotypical thing in mind about this country. I mean, when we think of the UK, typical topics such as culture and food come to our minds. I'm really into british culture and art such as music, literature, fashion, cinema... etc. However, I realized I don't know anything about lifestyle here. How is people like? What about the prices and the life-quality?

Also, I would love to know the dark side of this country because we all have an idealistic and idealized idea of a perfect place. I want to know the disadvantages, the things nobody tells you.

EDIT: for those who downvoted this post, I gently ask you to argument why you disagree with what I'm saying. Thank you in advance!
