Latest illustration is finished! Definitely one of my favorites so far-- when doing research on the "Sun Dial" I came across posts on this reddit about Gnomonic Blocks or Multifaceted Sundials, and while it's very possible Wolfe was describing something in that ballpark, I went with a satellite/dish array/probe on the basis that I think the imagery is symbolically stronger, given the space travel elements/dying earth genre conventions.

Probably one of my favorite sequences in the entirety of New Sun-- it dawned on me to make it an homage to Arnold Böcklin's The Isle of Death and the rest fell into place!

This one went through a couple major revisions and was a bit more tricky than some of the others--Definitely wanted to give it a very pulpy, acidic color palette, but finally landing on one that worked for the composition was a bit of an ordeal, haha.

I've got several of the more finished illustrations in progress-- so I'll be sure to post them here once each one is done! In the meantime, was doing some ideation/sketches for an illustration that takes place in Thrax and wanted to design some of the locals/crowd-filler. Wolfe describes an Autochthon wearing a bird like a hat, with wings as ear-flaps, so I definitely wanted to include that guy. The second one is you-know-who.

Back at it! Really wanted to go all out on this one, and it's definitely one of my favorite pieces so far! Tagged NSFW for obvious reasons.

Finished up another one! I'll probably jump to some scenes from Claw next, though I still have more planned for Shadow!

Got another one finished! With the green light and nighttime tones, this one was a bit more difficult to color than the others, but had a lot of fun with it regardless!

You know the drill! Wanted to put in as much symbolism as I could into this one regarding the Autarchy, in addition to using the 'false Thecla' element in the story as an inspiration behind the Caryatids-- each statue representing a different woman in Severian's life, etc!

Similar to my last post-- took an edible and this resulted from it. Might make this a tradition every other week or so... I've certainly got enough ideas for detailed pieces like these, haha.

EDIT:: Thanks for all the support y'all! I'm glad you've been enjoying these-- will definitely be posting the others as I complete them! Got at least a dozen or so planned out over the coming weeks/months!
