I'm currently doing an assassin durge and my duergar has a disguise self option but for the life of me, I've never quite figured out how to use it. It usually winds up as a funny novelty to disguise everyone and hear their lines in different bodies. I know I'm missing something

So on a playthrough with my friends, we were curious if you go into the cave as an owl bear would give any new options or make it easier to get the cub. Our druid wild shaped and in we went.

We learned it gives you nothing different if you had gone in with a speak to animals potion. So we rolled to just get out of the cave and let the goblins do their thing.

Roll; critical failure. Went right into combat.

We desperately wanted to just get out of the cave and not hurt any of them. Our druid quickly wild shaped out and tried to stun the mom.... and forgot to put stun moves back on so he deals a nasty critical to the mom which freaked us all out.

Our mage casts wall of flames to block the narrow section and followed up with, and I quote; they wouldn't dare cross the wall of flames!

Well....mama owl kept......flew....right into the fire. And died.

All of us are completely shocked, disappointed and disgusted with one another for a few seconds before the cutscene of the cub eating it's mom plays. My words; "it's ok! We can still get him at-"

Cut scene ends abruptly as it goes back to the cub WALKING INTO THE FIRE AND SETTING ITSELF ABLAZE!

A long....very long silent pause fell over our headsets. No words spoken when we left the cave. We went back to camp to take turns petting scratch

I play A LOT of durge (I'm a dead 3 fanboy) and Ive done lots of questionable and unpopular decisions.

-romanced karlach then betray her

-sacrificed astarian

-sold the githyanki egg to the Society of brilliance (SOB's) with laezel standing next to me.

-punted the egg off a cliff with laezel standing next to me

-give dame aylin to lorrokan

-killed hope after freeing her

But I will never...EVER be mean to scratch and owl bear. It's either I'm always nice to them or I don't pick them up. There's no in between. I will not be cruel or mean to them.

Not like endgame like now, I feel like she would be great to have in the party as a traveling companion! Her banter with the others would be hilarious seeing as how she can jump from sweet and motherly to pretty damned racist. And I could see her going into her hag form like wild shaping for combat. She would be great for evil playthroughs.

As for romancing....well....I know I'd be curious to know what happens....

I used to keep the banging soundtrack on but after turning it off, I'm really into the moods you get just walking around with the ambience playing. I love the eerie sounds of the shadow cursed lands and the hustle and bustle of baldurs gate.

I know some people play their own music which is also fun if I'm going for a specific mood. What about you?
