Landlords asking for $750 for garden maitenance

Hi all,

We have just moved and while our old landlords are happy with the condition of the house and (most) of the garden, they are asking for $750 to replant ground cover plants along a 2ish metre stretch of dirt along the back fence, maybe 40ish cm in width.

The plant, although we tried best we could, mostly died over winter, as they (according to google search) were not planted in a spot that was good for them. The same plant in another part of the garden thrived because it had much better conditions suited to it (covered from the elements by a thick tree). The area that died was also not laid properly, so the weeds coming through were awful, and the plant so delicate that when you weeded it would rip up the plant. We told the REA this in May at the last inspection.

I'm also miffed because we only moved in last October, and then in May we had notice to vacate because they wanted to move back in September, so we didn't even see out a full 12 months.

What are your thoughts?

Boot scrapers!

I live in Melbourne Australia, was going for a walk and a coffee during work and I’m blessed to work in a part of the city rich with lots of Victorian architecture, and I saw these!

Initially I thought they were mini fireplaces to keep servants/doormen warm during winter, because it does get cold down here 🤣 After some googling they appear to be very ornate boot scrapers! Never seen anything like it before or knew what a boot scraper was. Learn something new every day!
